WELCOME AFTER SUMMER BREAK

“Summer vacations have passed,

A rejuvenated school again starts,

There’s reading, drilling and spelling too,

Team work and blessings will get us through.”

After a relaxed vacation with the spirits held high, Gyan Vihar School

again stepped ahead toward joyous learning through online platform and

extended welcome to the students with bright and cheerful faces. A

plethora of fun based welcome activities were conducted for the

students on July 1, 2020 creating a splendid aura of magnificent

erudition. School uses holistic approach to infuse education by

conducting a host of activities like Rainbow cloud making, Show and Tell

activity, Math fun etc. to stimulate energy and arouse enthusiasm among

students.

VIRTUAL ONLINE CLASSES

“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something

inside you that is greater than any obstacle.” Keeping this insight, School

management, Principal sir and the educators of our School intended

themselves for the uninterrupted process of learning through online classes

and proved themselves as a pioneer of progressive education. These classes

not only impart hassle free education to our learners but also make them

familiar with the new way of teaching –learning process. Our teachers are

imparting knowledge of various subjects like English, Hindi, Science, Social

Science, Mathematics etc. to our students through best teaching

methodologies. Besides this, to achieve holistic development of our

students Art, Music, Dance, Sports etc. are also included as an integral

part of learning.

GURU PURNIMA CELEBRATION

“Worshipping the feet of the Guru is the ultimate of all worships.”

Guru Purnima is a ritualistic celebration marked to respect the Guru –

the one who leads us to the right path of life and share his/her wisdom.

In keeping with the tradition of revering our gurus for their invaluable

contribution in shaping the minds and characters of young people, our

students observed Guru Purnima on July 5, 2020 for their beloved

teachers by performing dance, reciting poems to express their love and

affection towards their mentors. It truly depicts the metamorphosis of

the student- teacher relationship.

May the gurus continue to shine and be the guides and torch bearers of

society.

ONLINE ASSESSMENT

“Learners need endless feedback more than they need endless teaching”.

Assessment is an ongoing awareness of students learning and their needs,

rather than an occasional event in the programme. Minute – by – minute

observations of students along with an understanding of how children learn,

allow teachers to monitor and evaluate their learning skills .To establish the

relation with learning progression our school conducted online assessment

between July 24, 2020 to July 29, 2020 to evaluate our students’ skills and

intelligence. Students came up with the flying colours in these assessments

and shown a commendable performance.

RAKSHA BANDHAN CELEBRATION

“Raksha Bandhan” a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love

between a brother and a sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of

all human emotions. To commemorate this festival, virtual inter house Rakhi

making competition was organised for the students of grade I-V on July 31,

2020. Students made beautiful Rakhis using different articles like silken

threads, ribbons, etc. Their artisanship was quite fascinating and children

thoroughly enjoyed this activity that tickled their creative side. We

succeeded in catalyzing feelings of care and affection between siblings.

INTER HOUSE GROUP SONG COMPETITION

“Music is moonlight in the gloomy night of life”. It is a universal language

that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. In order to engage

and inspire our students to develop a love for music, a virtual inter house

motivational group song competition was organised on August 4, 2020 for

classes I-IV where students presented mellifluous group songs and pulled

the heartstrings of everyone .The theme of the competition was

motivational songs .All the young maestros sang to their level best and made

the competition a great success. The synchronization of the melodious

voices was heartwarming. Zoroaster House bagged the first position

followed by Socrates, Buddha and Gandhi house.

FUN FILLED ACTIVITIES

“What we learn with pleasure we never forget.”When learning is admixed

with fun and creativity, it helps students to reach the pinnacle of great

knowledge. In order to enliven online classes, our teachers engaged our

students in various fun-filled activities so that they can create, experience,

investigate, explore and push off the boundaries of imagination. Our

students were provided various opportunities to apply their learning through

a plethora of activities in various subjects like Plantation, Poster making on

environment, Rainbow Umbrella, Various Professions, Nuances clock , Math

Word Bank, Multiplication Wheel designing, Addition Fun, Antonyms etc.

Students showed a keen interest in all these fun – filled activities which help

them to vivify their thoughts. These activities proved as great tool for

acclimatizing our students to a friendly online learning via zoom.

Janmashtami is celebrated with all fervor and heightened spirits throughout

the country to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. To keep alive our

cultural and traditional values our school also celebrated Janmashtami on

August 10, 2020 with mirth and joy. Students were traditionally dressed up as

Krishna .To enhance the spirit of festivity, students of different classes

participated in various activities like Krishna painting, Matki decoration , etc.

The little creators participated enthusiastically and channelize their

creativity in the most exquisite manner.

74th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

“Freedom in the mind, Faith in the words, Pride in our souls”. Let’s salute

the nation on this auspicious day. Our school celebrated 74th

Independence Day in all its solemnity and grandeur on August 15, 2020

amidst the pandemic following the social distancing norms. The event

commenced with flag hoisting by our respected Principal Sir followed by

the National Anthem. The Tri Coloured flag kept fluttering in the free

spirited wind and the national anthem was sang in unison. Principal Sir

addressed all the staff members and stressed on the responsibilities of

Indian citizens and educators. Respected Principal sir and teachers paid

their homage to the great martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the

sake of freedom .Our honourable management also graced the occasion

virtually conveying their best wishes. Patriotism was reverberated in the

surroundings. Various activities were also conducted virtually with our

students to ignite love for the country.

Students expressed their love for the country through beautiful paintings,

sketches, tricolour flag, etc. in the most creative manner.

How beautiful is the rain, After the dust and heat,

In the broad and fiery street, In the narrow lane. How welcome is the rain.

After a prolonged parched summer, the long awaited season brought about

activities galore for our lads and lassies. The Social Studies week was

observed between August 16, 2020 - August 19, 2020 where a myriad of

activities were carried out. A Plantation Activity was conducted where

children decorated the vases and planters. “Best out of waste “activity was

conducted for students by using old and discarded articles available at

home, many home decor items were also crafted splendidly .Leafy craft was

an innovative idea where the students used leaves to form a herbivorous

animals of their choice and spoke few informative lines about it. Adding on

to the gaiety, Fancy dress competitions were held on the topics” Water is

life” and “Nature’s Beauty” to enrich the knowledge, imagination and the

spoken skills of the little scholars of our school.

GANESH CHATURTHI CELEBRATION

“The sweet smell of flowers, the array of colours

The aroma of modaks and our prayers to Vinayaka –the blessed one.”

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is the celebration of the arrival of Lord

Ganesha, the god of wisdom and intelligence. Our students marked this day by

performing a foot –tapping energetic dance to welcome Lord Ganesha on his

birthday. It was a truly mesmerizing dance performance. Besides this, some

beautiful eco-friendly clay idols of Lord Ganesha were made by the students

emphasizing on the fact that good education never goes to waste. They learnt

to synchronies festivity and fun along with respect for our environment. Our

students paved the way for an eco friendly way to celebrate the festival.

Students were completely engrossed in making paintings of Lord Ganesha and

came up with their beautiful creations.

INTER HOUSE DANCE COMPETITION

“We dance for the laughter, we dance for tears,

We dance for madness, we dance for fears,

And not just the screams

We dance to salute the country of our dreams.”

An inter house dance competition was organised on August 21, 2020 in which

our students enthralled everyone with their performances.

With the theme for the competition being “ Patriotism “,the joy of movement

came alive celebrating the culture, diversity, fearlessness, resilience, spirit

and glory of our great nation. Students of classes I to X participated with

much enthusiasm and showcased their talents .The first position in the event

was bagged by Buddha House followed by Gandhi house and Zoroaster house.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY CELEBRATION

National Sports Day Celebration National Sports Day in India is celebrated every year on August 29, 2020 to

commemorate the birth anniversary of Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand

who won gold medals for India and make the country proud.

A couple of events were held virtually for the students of class IV –V -The

Burpees and Jumping Jacks. The tenacity and determination shown by the

budding sportsperson make us believe that sports has the power to unite us

even when we are not together in person.

These sports events emphasized on the fact that physical exercises, games

and fitness have become even more important in the times of prevailing

pandemic.
