Round 9 Netball Reports     Jets v’s Barellan

Under 11’s

This week the U’11s were led by Isabel Fairman as captain, who did a fabulous job with her

mo va onal speeches before & during the game! Barellan were another tough team to come

up against. Our defenders were put through their paces & kept very busy all game, showing

great determina on. Georgia Pursehouse won the special coaches award for never giving up

in GK & GD, against a shooter who was nearly a foot taller than her! Maya Pren ce was

awarded the Landmark towel for a great game in GD, ge ng lots of intercepts. Jasmin Cassidy

showed her versa lity by playing WA, C & GD and doing a brilliant job wherever we put her

on the court. A er her superstar performance, she was given BOC $10 Ariah Park Bowling

Club award. We welcomed back Bronte Ingram a er breaking her wrist. Bronte was voted

Players’ Player a er playing a cracking game in C and winning the $5 Beckom hotel Canteen

award.

Under 13’s

A real nail bi er by under 13’s this week against Barellan. The girls started strong with some

excellent passing off the centre by Gabby Fairman and Sophie Maxwell that led to some very

quick goals by Charlo e Bell and Jo Bray. Josie Heath, Tully Gaynor and Georgia McCormack

really held Barellan out in the defensive end, allowing only 3 goals to our 10 in the first

quarter. The girls se led in nicely in the second and third with some great intercepts by Olivia

Mills and Sophie Dart. Josie Heath proved to be great support around the circle for our

shooters in the third before a quick break with a three quarter lead of 18 to 11. The girls came

back on a bit excited and Barellan jumped on it giving it everything they could up to the last

second to even up the score. With the crowd cheering and coach Leah having no nails le by

full me, we managed 1 goal to Barellan’s 7 to just stay in front by one point at full me. Full

me score 19 – 18. The Best on Court $10 Ariah Park Bowling Club award went to Tully

Gaynor, Georgia McCormack was voted Players’ Player thanks to Beckom Hotel and the

coaches towel award went to Gabby Fairman. A very entertaining match. The girls all played

fantas c. Great work!!!!!!!

Under 15’s

We went into the game against Barellan with lots of laughs under our belts, a er team

bonding and Suse's birthday cake prior to the game. The girls had a slow start and Barellan

raced to a big lead in the first quarter. But a er Suse made a few combina on changes, and

the wind started blowing, the balance shi ed and we became far more compe ve. The girls

started applying greater pressure and forcing errors in Barellan’s a ack. Our passes ghtened

up and leads were held much more decisively. In the third quarter, Barellan farewelled three

of their girls to play with the seniors, and we were cheering! The third and fourth quarters

saw the Jets well and truly se led in, evidenced by more intercepts and control of passages of

play. The girls are congratulated for drama cally slowing the Barellan's first quarter scoring

spree. So all in all, even though we were beaten 44‐8, the game was by no means a walk over.

The resilience and effort we see from these girls each week is unreal and we want to

encourage everyone to come and cheer them on against Naranderra. The Beckom Hotel $5

Canteen Award (Players Player) went to Paige Brown, for her characteris c leadership and

shoo ng accuracy. The Bowling Club $10 Award (Best on Court) went to Annie Cassidy, for

being a lynchpin in defence and a ack. The Landmark Towel went to Annelise Golder, who

held brilliantly in the goal circle and con nues to grow in confidence in the face of tough

a ack.

Northern Jets football reports – Round 9 v Barellan

Under 11s

Despite cloud cover and a s ff wind to start the day the Under 11s had a great start to their

game against an understrength Barellan team. Though they lacked accuracy at their scoring

end, their persistence paid off with a steadily increasing score line to claim victory. Massive

shout out to the players from the Jets who helped Barellan out and played a quarter with

them to even the teams. Great sportsmanship was shown by these boys and they played as

hard for Barellan as they do their own team. Final score was JETS  9.13.67  def  BARELLAN

1.4.10. Be er players on the day were Archer Gaynor (Elders Towel), Will Fairman (Ardlethan

Pharmacy socks); Seb Rees ($10 award), Liam Gaynor, Joe Furphy and Cooper Herden.

Under 13s

With the wind gusts only ge ng stronger as the game went on, accuracy was again a factor in

the boy’s impressive win over Barellan. This win was a true team effort, with goals being

scored by 10 different players, and everyone suppor ng their team mates to put goals on the

board. Strong defence kept Barellan scoreless un l the second half of the game. Results: JETS

19.14.116  def  BARELLAN  2.3.15. Awards went to: Lachlan  Buerckner  (Landmark Towel)

Oliver Petrie  (Socks); Brock Strickland  (Ariah Park Hardware $10) and other be er players

on the day were Alex Rees, Jim O’Hare and Tom Writer.

Under 15’s – V Narrandera

This game was a reversal of fortune from the previous mee ng between these two teams.

The wind se led slightly from earlier in the day, though this did not help our 15s gain ground

over Narrandera, who seemed determined to win a er their close loss to the Jets in their

previous mee ng. Despite their effort and staying in touch un l the third quarter, overtaking

the Narrandera side on the scoreboard was out of their reach by the last quarter, going down

to Narrandera 3.8.26 to 10.11.71. Awards: Josh Bell (Elders Towel), Wilson Gaynor (Ardlethan/

Ariah Park Supermarket socks); Brady Edis (Jason Bryce Spreading $10).
