• Quantitative indication of the level of mastery of knowledge and skills learnt.
• Qualitative feedback also serves to scaffolds students’ learning.
• Motivate our children towards Excellence, and strive towards personal mastery, not towards chasing the last mark.
Changes to Holistic Development Profile (HDP)“We will make adjustments to the Holistic Development Profile, or more commonly known as the report book, to better reflect a student’s progress in learning, and to discourage excessive peer comparison. These adjustments will also help to reduce test anxiety.”

Changes to be made in the report fileInformation to be removed Rationale Class and level positionClass and level meanMinimum and maximum marks
Discourage comparison of students so as to make learning less competitive and stressful
Option to underline and/ or colour failed marks
Pass/ Fail result for end-of-year HDP
Avoid reinforcing students’ shortcomings
Mean subject grades Not meaningful to inform promotion or progression
Overall total marks Overall total percentage will be provided
Changes to be made in the report fileInformation to be retained with modification
Rationale
Individual subject marksrounded off to whole numbers with individual subject grades based on the rounded off whole number marks
Marks are still needed to inform students of how they have fared academically.
No need to have precision of decimal places for reporting of grades in HDP.
THE PSLE REMAINS A USEFUL CHECKPOINT
It gauges the level of students’ learning in the core subjects at the end of six years of primary school and guides his future choices.

Some suggested ways Parents are encouraged to allow your child to attempt the
homework on their own. Guide your child, but do not do their homework for them.
Provide structures for students to develop good habits that support independent learning such as teaching them to jot down their homework and packing their bags.
Always work with your child’s teachers first as they are the ones who know your child well.
Train your children to be able to relay information to their teachers & vice versa.
Encourage Joy of Learning!

Level Focus Subject-based Banding
Subject-based Banding (SBB)Because every child is unique, and has different aptitudes, capabilities & talents, SBB was introduced to cater to the different abilities of each child so that we can prepare him/her for life.
The intent of SBB remains unchanged even under the new PSLE scoring system.
Details of the grading for foundation subjects under the new PSLE scoring system will be shared in due course.Find out more at https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/primary/subject-based-banding#sthash.gXvNRB43.dpuf
54
What does Subject-based Banding mean for your child ?• Every child will be encouraged to do the
subjects at the levels that best meet hisabilities
• An enhanced approach in providing Student-Centric, Values-Driven Education (SVE)
55
How does Subject-based Banding work?
This set of school-based criteria serves only as a guide for parents who may consider their child for the 4S1H combination at the end of P4.:80 % and above for English , Math, Science; and
85 % and above for Mother Tongue
*At the end of P5, pupils who scored 75 % or better in MT and have passed HMT can continue to do HMT at P6. If not, they will have to drop HMT at P6.
*Pupils who do not study HMT at P5 will not be allowed to take HMT at P6
4S 1H Combination
Use of HCL for Admission into SAP School• HCL results do not count towards the PSLE Score• However if students with the same PSLE Score are vying for limited
places in the same SAP school, those with better HCL grades will be allocated a place ahead of other students.
• The advantage that HCL students will obtain under the new system is similar to that under the current system.
