Thanksgiving Eve Worship—November 22, 2017—7pm
As we gather–
Every gathering for worship has elements of thanksgiving. When we are nourished with God’s
bounty in holy communion, when we partake of Jesus’ word that gives life to the world, and even
when two or three of us simply join our hearts in prayer to make our requests known to God, we do
so “with thanksgiving.” Let us give thanks to the Lord, who is good and whose mercy endures
forever.
Hearing assistance devices are available for your use.
Please notify an usher if you would like a unit.
GOD GATHERS US
Prelude
Welcome and Confession of Sin
P Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God,
who calls us into an everlasting hope,
who guides us to springs of the water of life,
who enlightens us with the Spirit of wisdom.
C Amen.
P One with the communion of saints in all times and places,
let us confess our sin against God and one another.
Please kneel as you are able. Silence for reflection and self‐examination.
P O God, our merciful Redeemer,
C we confess the ways we live only for ourselves.
We fail to see you in our neighbor’s face.
We turn our ears from voices that cry out.
We pass by the hungry and the oppressed.
In your great mercy, forgive our sin
and strengthen us for service to all in need;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
3
P In the mercy of almighty God,
Jesus Christ was given to die for you,
and for ☩ his sake,
God forgives you all your sin.
Blessed are you! Rejoice and be glad,
beloved people of God.
C Amen.

for rest in leisure; and for time made precious by its passing:
C We thank you, God.
A For your help in times of doubt and sorrow; for healing our diseases;
for preserving us in temptation and danger:
C We thank you, God.

Communion
At Preston Meadow Lutheran, our communion table is “open.” That means that you don’t have
to be a member of PMLC to commune, or even a Lutheran. We welcome children of all ages to this
favorite meal of the church because we know that we come at Jesus’ invitation to receive his free
gift of grace. Parents, if your children are not yet communing, encourage them to fold their arms
over their chests to receive a blessing. If you are communing, simply open your hands and bread
will be given to you. Cups with white grape juice are located in the center of the trays; gluten‐free
wafers are available on request. Come and enjoy the free gifts of God!
