PRESS RELEASE Leuven, February 1, 2011 LEUVEN UNIVERSITY PRESS CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF ACADEMIC PUBLISHING On April 27 th , 1971 Vice Chancellor Guido Declercq of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven established a foundation called ‘Universitaire Pers Leuven’, in English named ‘Leuven University Press’ and in French ‘Presses Universitaires de Louvain’. The purpose of the foundation was “to spread knowledge and support academic research by publishing works, series and periodicals, all in the broadest sense.” This year Leuven University Press celebrates its 40 th anniversary!
