DENVER is a new collection of tables

and occasional furniture. Light in

Spain’s furniture around the world

_facts & figures


A positive balance

2014 was a busy year for MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA and the Spain’s furniture industry which

participated with more than 120 Spanish manufacturers in the 11 main shows of the sector:

Imm Cologne, M&O Paris, Interior Mebel Kiev, I Saloni Milan, Index Dubai, Decorex London,

Furniture China, Ismob Turkey, May Design London, M&O Asia, I Saloni Moscow… The long list

of promotional activities included also events, openings of new showrooms in main cities, B2B

meetings, trade missions and contract projects in all main markets. As a result, exports

registered an upward trend all over the year…

Preliminary figures for 2014 indicate that Spain’s exports of furniture have increased by

+5.6% over the last year’s figures, amounting to 1,558 million euros at the end of

November.

Rich in styles and ranges and with a unique emotional approach, Furniture from Spain has

consolidated its presence in four EU countries: France, Portugal, Germany and the United

Kingdom, which rank 1st to 4th among Spain’s major markets.


A positive balance

Sales have increased significantly in almost all the other top ten importers. After years of

constant growth, exports to France has slightly decreased (-4.9%) due to the contraction in

the demand of consumer goods; nevertheless, the country is Spain’s strongest market for

furnishing products with purchases amounting to 387 million euros and a share of 24.8%

over the total of Spain’s exports of furnishing products.

Encouraging growths have also been registered in other main markets for Spanish

furniture, such as Germany (+35.5%), the United Kingdom (+20.9%), Italy (+11.2%) and

Mexico (+35%).

As for neighbouring countries, exports of made in Spain furnishing products have

registered positive results also in Belgium (+25.5%) and Switzerland (+10.5%), which

ranked 12th and 13th, respectively.
