FROM THE PRODUCERS ...

We saw "DAMESATSEA" performed in Hawaii many years ago, and fell in lovewith it. Weagreed that. if ever given the chance, we would produce the show. West Valley Light Operagave us the chance, and wejumped at it. "DAMESATSEA" is a take-off on the 1930 BubsyBerkeley musical extravaganzas. If you notice a little bit of Dick Powell, Ruby Keeler andJoan Blondell in some of the performers, don't worry ...you're all right. It's a little bit offluff...a little meaningless fun from all thewonderful people who gave us all the wonderful"little bits of fluff' way back then. Sit back and enjoy ...laugh when you want to...applaudwhen you want to, and ifyou feel alump forming in your throat. think ofit as just a memoryof good times gone by.

He has danced in "Barnum", "Pippin", "Seven Brides forSeven Brothers", "Marne", "Cabaret" ... and the list goes on andon. Brien has studied dancing with Arthur Murray, BennySmith, Gail Benedict. Mary Ann Norris and Marie Stinnett Hehas performed in "AVisit to a Small Planet", "Plaza Suite", "TheCrucible" and "Bus Stop". If that's not enough, in his spare timehe is becoming a gourmet cook. And, Brien was pleasantlysurprised In this show. He says this Is the first time he has had acostume to fit his lanky frame ... before opening night, that Is.

DON SCOTI - Hennesey The versatile Mr. Scott has workedwith many theatre groups In this area. His experience Includesthe first production to grace the stage at the Saratoga CivicTheatre in 1965. MARGIE IANG - Mona Kent This vivacious performer is anewcomer to WVLOand we are very glad she joined us as the starof "Dames At Sea". WILLIAMS, WILSON - Dick Scott. or Scotty, or William or AH ..or Bill, or HeyYou, as his mother calls him, returns once again toour stage, tripping over the lights, fantastically, You saw him, hopefulJy, in our production of "Sugar", looking tremulously atthe daybed, and, most recently in WVLO's last production of "MyFair Lady", looking awesomely at Eliza He is a tirelessperformer, a wonderful dancer, and a marvelous actor. Just askhim ... hell tell you, Actually, his ambition is STILL to become amild-mannered reporter for a major metropolitan newspaper. We have sent his resume to the Daily Planet, and hope to hearfrom them before this show year is over. There are quite a fewofus in WVLOthat have seen him develop from his 1971 role as achild in "Fiddler on the Roof', to the polished performer he istoday. Bring back the old days!!!

CHRISSIE SALANDRO - Ruby Another newcomer to WVLO,Chrissie, all 19 years of her, has survived the plight of being the"Middle Child", and is attending West Valley College, where sheplayed the role ofBonnie in their production of "Anything Goes".She has also performed for various local community theatregroups in "Bye Bye Birdie", "Annie Get Your Gun", and ''WIzardof Oz". From then on, it's been stardom with years and years ofdancing lessons, and finally, her big break: meeting BarbaraValente. She and Barbara have been a "team" for the past fiveyears, having choreographed shows forWVLO, and other theatergroups, i.e. Saratoga Drama Group, Gaslighter Theater, inCampbell, and Theaterworks, in Palo Alto. HELP !!!

A LITTLE THING LIKE A REHEARSING HALL ...You'd think a rehearsing hall wouldn't be so hard to find. WVLOAhas been producingshows for over 22 years. They MUST have rehearsed SOMEWHERE ..•That's true, of course. We had been rehearsing at schools in the Saratoga SchoolDistrict. But, all of a sudden, after paying $3.00 an hour for many years, the fee wasraised to $10.00 an hour. That's out of our reach, out of our sight, and out of our budget.

50-0-0-0-0 ...

What do we do? We are at that famous place called "Wit's End".

It's a problem fellow theatre-goers. WVLOAdraws performers from all over the SouthBay, the East Bay, the Peninsula. Santa cruz and Gilroy. When we did "Annie", we hadone of the members of the cast come down from San Francisco. A centralized placewould be nice, but, at this paint, we'll take almost anything anywhere down here.

THE SITUATION HAS BECOME DESPERATE It!WE NEED YOUR HELP It!

Isn't there someone out there who has a warehouse someplace that's not being used atnight? We need about 60 feet by 40 feet. The company has liability insurance and wewould be more than happy to make you an ••ADDITIONALINSURED". All we require is 3hours a night during the week. with rest room facilities and a place to make coffee.Enough parking for about 15-20 cars. We'll even bring in our own piano. A FREE halfpage ad in our programs will be thrown in as a part of the deal.If there are any questions, or if you have such a place, please call Gene Pincus at 257-7951, or Ed Hand at 356-7340.Thank You.
