Presented by: Rhonda Bielawski Shannon Connor Bryan Kiggins Jennifer Rosato Rhena McCaskill, Director of Admissions Information and update Addition of new elementary counselors and social worker Crisis Protocol/Suicide Prevention Integrated Learning Conference (2015) The new SAT update NASH counselors educating 6-10 counselors on the college process/NCAA NASH Profile NASH Profile Financial Aid Night (January 15) and College Information Night (Oct. 8) Community Connections (Oct. 21, IMS 6pm) Classroom lessons Caring Team Initiative Presentation on new Advisory Council Goals Developed from councils feedback Discussion encouraged Academic Counseling The School Counselors will incorporate the Career Clusters document into the K-12 curriculum.Career Clusters Focus for Academic Counseling Goal: This is a multifaceted goal. 1. Incorporate the Career Clusters document into the Program of Studies. 2.Using a phase in approach, School Counselors will begin introducing the topic of Career Clusters in grade 5. a. Grade 5 Introduction (began ) b. Grade 6 Bridges c. Grade 7 Good Life Project. 90% of 7 th graders will be able to identify career clusters of interest. d. Grade 8 continue to narrow down choice based on interest inventory results. e. Grades 9-12 these goals will be developed as the current 7 th graders move to HS. Focus will be on career clusters and the impact on elective choices. Personal Social Counseling The School Counseling Department will raise awareness and provide resources for the on-going mental health needs of our students. Focus for Personal/Social Goal : Mental Health Awareness What would you like to know? (Discussion) Counselors have in-service days focused on Mental Health Issues Spring Advisory Council meeting can focus on Mental Health Suicide Prevention/Crisis Intervention Protocol will be completed and approved by Executive Council by the end of the school year. Support Groups and the Caring Place Career Counseling The School Counseling Department will develop a mandatory job shadow experience for all 11 th grade students. Focus for Career Counseling Goal: Create a mandatory job shadow experience for all 11 th grade students. ***While we work on the logistics to implement this assignment, we will increase the percentage of 11 th grade students who have completed a job shadow experience from 16% to 25%.
