Customizing Quickstep To Add a function to the Quickstep

•Right click in Quickstep

•Select Add a button

•Select menu options in subsequent menus until you select the function you want to add

You can delete a function by right clicking on button you want to delete and select Delete a button

•Find the specified text

•Search for an item within a report - search for a word, amount, cheque number or any other item found within the report.

Field information shows the options available to add to the report Selected shows:

•what information is on the default report •Row shows what line the information is on

Customizing layout in reports You can change the layout of the report in numerous ways

•Change the row •Change the column length or location •Change date format •Change to bold or italic

•Highlight the item you want to change. The name will appear in the Title.

•The selected area will insert a check mark beside the fields that are overlapping

•The following error may appear if there are lines overlapping on the report

•Change the numbers so they are not overlapping. Here you could change the end of date opened to 2.45

• You must change the name of the report prior to saving. PCLaw will not allow you to change the default template.

• A screen will pop up and ask you if you want to make this your default template.

• It is recommended that you say no to this option.

The default template should remain as the standard when the report is requested.

•Click on arrow beside the default box •Highlight the name of the layout •Say no to make this the default template

Deposit Slips

•This feature will prepare your deposit slip for the bank

•Using the Deposit Slip function in PCLaw will:

•Quickly prepare your deposit slip for the bank •Eliminate posting errors on receipts. The posted entry in PCLaw will show on the receipt •Eliminates addition errors

•The payment method will be available on all receipts once you have activated the deposit slip function

•Select the payment method from the drop down list

•Post receipts in PCLaw. Select the payment method from the list

•Prepare the deposit slip just before going to the bank

•Select General or Trust

•Insert bank number

•Leave dates as defaulted

•okay

•The default dates will ensure that there are no back dated entries or entries posted with a future date

•You can select Ignore Direct Deposit, Wire and Credit Card Entries if you do not have a Debit Machine

•Any entries selected as direct deposit, wire or credit card will not show on the deposit slip.

•Keep this selected if you do use a debit machine

Deposit Slips

•Bank information will automatically populate in the deposit slip

•Review each cheque to ensure information is correct •Highlight the entry

•Click on the box beside the entry number •A check mark will appear beside the entry

•An entry can be removed if it will not be taken to the bank (ie. a correcting entry)

•PCLaw will automatically assign a deposit slip number

•PCLaw will automatically total all of the items

•One copy will print automatically and the deposit slip will appear on the screen

•Confirm date •Today’s date will populate in the date field

•One copy of the deposit slip will be for the bank •One copy will be for the firm

Deposit Slips

Note: The first time you use deposit slips the screen will populate with all of the deposits you have ever done for this account. You will need to clear all of the old deposits. Do this by selecting all old deposits and okay.

•Options for the bank

•Your bank may accept the PCLaw deposit slip as your deposit. Take both copies to the bank. The bank will keep one and return the second one to you stamped.

•The bank may want their deposit book used. Complete only the date and the total of the deposit on the bank deposit slip. Breakdown the cash if applicable. Give the bank one copy of the PCLaw deposit slip to show details for their records. Keep the second copy. The bank will stamp the deposit book.

•File firm copy of the deposit slip in a binder

•All users will be identified

•The date and time they logged is recorded

•Enables you to identify the users that need to close PCLaw when performing certain functions where you must be the only user

•Monitor to ensure that all users close PCLaw every day before leaving the office

•Re-starting PCLaw will change the system date to today •Some backups will not complete properly if PCLaw is left open
