Article 1. BACHELOR’S DEGREES CURRICULA

1.1. Purpose

The purpose of Bachelor’s degrees is to get a general education in one or more disciplines aimed at preparing students to work in professional activities.

1.2. Credits and course load European credits, as defined in Royal Decree 1125/2003 dated the 5th of September 2003, are the units of measurement of education and represent the amount of student work performed. This unit of measurement encompasses both theoretical and practical education, as well as other supervised academic activities. It includes the number of hours that students must study and work each term in order to achieve the educational objectives of each course in the curriculum. Bachelor’s degrees curricula have a course load of 240 credits, which is divided into 60 credits per academic year. Each ECTS credit corresponds to 25 hours of work. In addition to in-person work through large-group classes, small-group classes, seminars and practical classes, students may also attend tutorials, develop a project outside the classroom supervised by the professor or undertake any independent or group work needed to pass the evaluations of the different modules and classes. Usually, with the exception of the Bachelor’s Final Project (BFP) and the Practicum, the time spent on each ECTS credit will be divided as followed:

eight hours of in-person work

eight hours of supervised work outside the classroom and tutorials

nine hours of independent work

In the case of the Bachelor’s Final Project, the time is divided as follows:

two and a half hours of in-person work

two and a half hours of supervised work outside the classroom and tutorials

twenty hours of independent work

In the case of the Practicum, the division of time varies depending on whether or not there is a class associated with the module.

The division of hours when there is a class associated with the module:

fifteen hours working at centres

two and a half hours of in-person work

two and a half hours of supervised work outside the classroom and tutorials

five hours of independent work

The division of hours when there is no class associated with the module:

twenty hours working at centres

two and a half hours of in-person work

two and a half hours of in-person work

1.3. Organisation of Bachelor’s degrees and kinds of subjects Bachelor’s degree curricula are organised into modules worth 6, 12 or 18 ECTS credits. These modules include one or more subjects, which in turn are divided into courses of different kinds, following the classification below:

Core classes: These are core, cross-cutting subjects which are necessary for the students’ initial training.

Compulsory classes: These classes are established by the Universitat Ramon Llull for each degree programme and must be taken by all the students who want to earn the same degree.

Electives: These courses are determined by the Universitat Ramon Llull and are offered to students so they can choose the ones they need in order to earn the elective credits stipulated in their curriculum. Taking a given series of electives may lead to a minor.

Internships (see Practicum Guide for the Bachelor’s in Preschool and Primary School and Rules on Internships in the Bachelor’s in Psychology, Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, and Speech and Language Therapy).

Bachelor’s Final Project. In addition to the courses, the modules also include a seminar in which students further explore some of the competences of the module. Students enrolled in the first year of the Bachelor’s in Preschool and Primary School in the academic year 2016-2017 will have to adjust to the changes in academic regulations concerning the modifications of their curricula to be applied progressively year after year. Article 2. ENROLMENT 2.1. Enrolment must be completed within the deadlines established for each academic year. When enrolling, students must have the right prerequisites and documentation. The date and time will be announced on the Faculty website or by text message for new students, and via the virtual platform or by email for students who are already working towards their degree in the Faculty. Generally speaking, students who are beginning their programme must enrol in the first complete academic year. However, there is the possibility of offering them more flexibility in the minimum number of credits for which they must enrol. Specifically, students have the chance to pursue a personalised plan if they previously submit a request addressed to the academic secretary, which makes it possible for them to pursue part-time programmes so that these programmes can be compatible with work, family life or any other reasonable, documented circumstance that the student may cite. In these cases, students may enrol for up to a minimum of 50% of the regular credits (30 credits). Regarding the rest of the academic years, students must enrol in a minimum of 30 credits and a maximum of 78 credits per academic year. Depending on the module, enrolment and evaluation will be done by module or by course. In any event, the courses in a module must also be enrolled in along with the Seminar, if the module has one, for first-time enrolment.

Students starting Bachelor’s studies in the academic year 2016-17 have to take up a single 4-hour-a-week seminar every semester. Students starting their second, third and fourth years of Bachelor’s studies in the academic year 2016-17 will have to do the two seminars of the same semester simultaneously when taking up a subject (except for Practicum and BFP). 2.2. If the student does not pass a compulsory core module, course or seminar, Practicum or Bachelor’s Final Project during the academic year in which the they are enrolled, they will have to re-enrol the following year in order to pass it.

2.3. Extracurricular internships can be done on a voluntary basis during the student’s education, and even if their purpose may be the same as the curricular internships, they are not part of the corresponding curriculum. However, they will be take into account as a European Supplement to the Degree (SET) as stipulated by the regulations currently in force.

To take the extracurricular internships, students have to have enrolled in them while also having taken and passed the compulsory curricular internships. They may be taken simultaneously on an exceptional basis, in the field of the Psychology of Organisations and the University Master’s or any Bachelor’s degree with prior approval of the direction. In the Bachelor’s in Psychology, the Bachelor’s in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences and the Bachelor’s in Speech and Language Therapy, students may enrol in up to a maximum of 12 ECTS credits of extracurricular internships. These credits may be formalised in a single enrolment or in several consecutive enrolments by paying 25% of the fee. They must be completed by the 15th of July at the latest. Students in the Bachelor’s in Preschool Education who are doing extracurricular academic internships or regular internships at the Institut Municipal d’Educació de Barcelona (IMEB) shall be governed by the rules of this organisation. For legal and academic reasons, as a general rule, neither extracurricular nor curricular internships may be done in companies with which students have labour, statutory or contractual ties (see the specific rules on internships for each degree programme). In all cases, the ties established between the student and the internship centre are strictly academic and not labour-related, and the relationship between the parties shall be formalised by signing the Student registration document in the external academic internship programme, which is incompatible with a work contract. 2.4. English module and CLIL credits

1. When they complete their degree at the Universitat Ramon Llull, students who start their Bachelor’s degrees in academic year 2014-2015 and later must be able to submit documentation to the faculty’s Academic Secretariat accrediting their attainment of level B2 on the CEFR of a third foreign language among those established by the university entrance examinations in order for their degree to be issued (article 211 of Law 2/2014, approved by the Parliament of Catalonia on the 27th of January 214, on fiscal, administrative, financial and public sector measures under the title of “Accreditation of knowledge of a third language”).

2. In their second academic year, students must enrol in a compulsory English course, except for students who are studying for the Bachelor’s in Primary Education in English, who must register during their first year via university extension courses. In order to ascertain their level, the Faculty offers a level test. Each student shall be assigned to a group within the course depending on their level. If students do not achieve the level required on the level test (B1.2), they may enrol in English classes through the University Extension Programme. The English course will be passed when students attain level B2, and the mark in the course will be the mark they earn in this level. If students have not attained the prerequisite level (B1.2), they will receive a mark of “not taken”. Likewise, the Faculty offers students its Independent Language Study Room so that they can improve their language skills.

3. Students who can submit a recognised official certificate stating that they have attained

level B2 (equivalent to the Cambridge University First Certificate in English exam), C1 (equivalent to the Cambridge University Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 (equivalent to the Cambridge University Certificate of Proficiency in English) can request recognition for the English course. Official accrediting document: http://www10.gencat.net/dursi/generados/catala/home/recurs/doc/equiv_idiomes_consell.pdf.

4. Students are required to take at least 6 ECTS credits during their degree programme in the

CLIL module (choices: modules or courses in core classes, compulsory classes, electives, Practicum, Bachelor’s Final Project or other choices approved by the Direction of the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences). The level taught in the classes within the CLIL modules or courses is intermediate (B1-C1), so students are recommended to have mastery of level A2.2 at a minimum. Up to 18 ECTS credits may be taken in CLIL classes. The total number of ECTS credits passed will appear in the SET.

5. Students who have studied abroad with the Erasmus programme one semester and have taken courses in English as part of their studies in the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences may request recognition of additional CLIL credit on their academic record. In this case, they must accredit the instruction they received in this language with contents similar to the contents taught in the modules in their programme at the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences, with a document issued by the host university.i

2.5. The total price of enrolment in an academic year shall be calculated according to the number of credits enrolled in plus the price of the seminars that were not passed the first time, if applicable, for which students must re-enrol in subsequent academic years until they are passed.

2.6. Academic incompatibilities:

FOR ALL BACHELOR’S PROGRAMMES

Should the student have to repeat a module or a course, in order to facilitate attendance in class they must avoid incompatible timetables between the modules and courses from the different academic years when enrolling.

iFor further information, you may check the International Relations rules on the website of the web Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences.

In order to take the DECA Module II, students must have passed the DECA Module I. SECOND DEGREE IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION OR PRIMARY EDUCATION In order to enrol in a second degree, students must have passed all the courses and modules in the degree that provides admission. They may also enrol when the only have at most 12 credits left to pass before completing the degree that provides admission and/or the BFP with the percentage of the process passed, which requires students to take the slow enrolment process. During their Bachelor’s training, students who have earned first-class honours in any module or course will have the right to enrol free of change in the equivalent number of credits from the module or course in which they earned this honour in the following academic year, up to a maximum of six credits per module or course. Students in their last year of the degree can earn this benefit if in the following academic year they enrol in another official Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at any of the Blanquerna-URL faculties, except in the Bachelor’s in Pharmacy, which is governed by different rules. 2.8. Students who enrol in the last credits to complete their degrees may ask that any modules or courses in which they were enrolled and did not pass in previous academic years be offered on an extraordinary basis, as long as they are missing at most 24 credits to graduate. Offering these modules or courses on an extraordinary basis does not mean that the student has three evaluation periods during the academic year; instead it is viewed as the advance offering of one of the two evaluation periods to which official enrolment gives them the right.

During the first half of February, an extraordinary period will begin when students can request recognition of the English course for students who can accredit the level required via a certificate earned within the three previous months. Students can forfeit recognition of a module or course after the decision of the Recognition and Approval Committee of the Universitat Ramon Llull within the deadlines stipulated by the Academic Secretariat. 4.2. In compliance with Royal Decree 861/2010 dated the 2nd of June 2010, which amends Royal Decree 1393/2007 dated the 29th of October 2007, when students hold a degree from an advanced training cycle (cicle formatiu de grau superior, CFGS) in the field of education and work experience as a special education assistant or educator with at least 850 hours in the past ten years, which can be accredited through a contract or an employment record, may request recognition of the credits corresponding to the course Systematic Evaluation and Analysis of Contexts from the degree in Preschool Education. Likewise, if the student has work experience as a tutor or teacher in primary school, they may also request recognition of the credits corresponding to the Practicum I (6 ECTS) in the degree in Primary Education.

The request for recognition, along with the corresponding documentation, should be sent to the Academic Secretariat of the Faculty, which will weigh whether the request meets the minimum requirements in form and substance to determined whether or not it is approved.

Requests for recognition shall be sent to the Recognition and Approval Committee of the Universitat Ramon Llull for the definitive decision.

To decide on the recognition of modules or courses, the Recognition and Approval Committee will bear in mind the match between the competences and knowledge contained in the credits passed and the corresponding competences and knowledge contained in the modules or courses to be recognised.

The modules or courses which are recognised shall appear as such on the student’s academic record.

The provisions of this article will also be applicable in the advanced training cycles whose credits are recognised in the Bachelor’s degree programmes. In this case, recognition of Bachelor’s modules or courses which have already been passed may not be requested.

Students may enrol in the same Practicum at most three times. If they do not pass it the third time they may not continue at the centre. 6.3. If a student decides not to continue their degree programme and instead to withdraw from the centre during the academic year in which they are enrolled, they must submit the duly signed withdrawal request form to the Academic Secretariat of the Faculty. Once the withdrawal request has been received, the student’s academic record will be sealed and no further marks may be added to it. Likewise, after the date of the withdrawal request, the Faculty will no longer issue any invoices which may be pending until the end of the academic year. 6.4. The withdrawal in no way implies reimbursement of any amounts previously paid. 6.5. If students later wish to resume their studies in subsequent academic years, they must request a place at the centre at the Academic Secretariat of the Faculty during the application period. Article 7. CHANGING UNIVERSITY OR OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY STUDIES 7.1. 7.1.3. Once the Academic Secretariat has examined the transfer request, it will forward its decision to the dean on behalf of the rector of the university. If the decision is affirmative, it will be accompanied by an indication of the day and time of enrolment in case the student wishes to proceed with enrolment.

7.1.4. If the student cannot get at least 30 credits recognised, they must follow the usual admission process and request recognition of the credits they have earned during the established period, if they so wish. 7.1.5. Securing a place in the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences means that the student’s academic record will be transferred there, and this must be done by the original university once the student has accredited their admission into the Universitat Ramon Llull. 7.1.6. The documents for denied requests shall be left at the Student Information and Guidance Service for one year. After this period has elapsed, these materials will be destroyed if students have not come to collect them.

Article 8. EVALUATION Student progress is evaluated based on the target competences of each of the modules and courses in the curriculum. Therefore, the modules and courses are always the units of evaluation. 8.1. General rules The primary criterion in the evaluation of a module or course is holistic assessment. The goal is to make an overall assessment of whether the student has achieved sufficient maturity with regard to the competences to be attained in the module or course. As part of formative, continuous evaluation, the faculty shall regularly inform students of the degree to which they have achieved the course goals throughout the semester. The professor may perform several evaluative activities throughout the semester and is not obligated to repeat them for students who did not attend class on the day of the evaluation. During the period on the academic calendar set for final exams, the faculty of the module or course may administer oral or written evaluations or may ask for continuous assessment projects to be submitted. In the judgement of the faculty in charge, if the student has not mastered the competences of a model or course during the first examination period, they will fail it, but they may retake it if there has been follow-up of the development of the competences during the semester. If the student does not pass a module or course in either of the two examination periods in which they are enrolled in the same academic year, they must re-enrol in the module or course and take it again under the conditions stipulated in the syllabus. However, when students have to re-enrol in a module worth 12 or more ECTS credits (except for Practicum and BFP), they must pay 50% of the fee as long as their mark in the module they did not pass is equal to or higher than 4 points out of 10. If students have to re-enrol in a course, they must pay the full amount. Likewise, if students did not pass a seminar, they must also pay the full price established for each academic year. Regarding the scoring system, the level of learning attained by the student is expressed by numerical marks following the criteria established in article 5 on the scoring system in Royal Decree 1125/2003 dated the 5th of September 2003. The students’ results shall be scored based on the following scale from 0 to 10, with decimal expressions, which can also appear with the corresponding qualitative mark:

0 – 4.9: fail (SS)

5.0 – 6.9: pass (AP)

7.0 – 8.9: good (NT)

9.0 - 10: outstanding (EX)

A distinction for first-class honours may be granted to students who have received a mark equal to or higher than 9.0 as long as no more than 5% of the enrolled students did not receive this mark, unless the number is lower than 20, in which case just one such distinction may be granted. If there is any reasonable evidence of irregularities in the administration of an evaluative test, the dean of the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences may

invalidate it.

8.1.1. Students have the right to know what evaluation criteria will be applied in order for them to pass the module or course. 8.1.2. Students have the right to see the evaluative tests they have taken and the corrections made to them, and to receive advisement from the professor in charge of it in order to learn how to improve their academic performance. 8.1.3. Fraudulently sitting for any evaluative test will lead the student to fail the module or course during that academic year with a mark of 0.0. 8.1.4. Once a module or course has been passed, the student may not be evaluated for it again. 8.1.5. In order to participate in the graduation ceremony at the end of the academic year, students must have passed at least 75% of the credits in their degree programme by the end of the academic year. 8.1.6. If final exams must be taken, they must be administered during the period established by the centre in its academic calendar.

8.1.6.1. The centre must publish the date, time and classroom of the final exams during all three examination periods (February, June and July) with enough time in advance. Under no circumstances may the date be changed, unless serious circumstances justify this (death of a family member, hospitalisation, etc.) or circumstances affecting a high-level athlete or participation in International Relations programmes, which are governed by their own rules; in this case, however, students must submit the appropriate documentation. A request for a date change because of two overlapping exams, participation in International Relations programmes or being a high-level athlete must be submitted within the following deadlines: for the February and June examination periods, at least 15 days before the date when the exam period starts; for the July examination period, at most two days after the marks have been posted (on the website). 8.1.6.2. Once the test has begun, no student may leave the classroom for 30 minutes, although students who arrive late may enter during this period. After this time period, no student will be allowed to enter and any student who arrives later will receive a mark of “not taken”. Students who decide to leave the

classroom without having finished the test may do so by signing a sheet of paper; in this case they may request that the professor give them a mark of “not taken”. 8.1.6.3. When students finish the test and submit it to the professor, they must sign the attendance sheet in front of the professor. 8.1.6.4. Students have the right to request a document from the professor justifying their attendance after they finish they test as proof that they have completed it. 8.1.6.5. Passports at any time during the evaluative tests, faculty have the right to ask for student identification via national ID cards, Faculty cards, driving licenses or.

8.1.7. Faculty must keep the evaluative test materials for at least one academic year, and in the event of a grievance, until it has been resolved.

8.2. Rules on extraordinary evaluation processes 8.2.1. Students may ask that their final mark in a module or course be revised at most seven working daysii after the date on which the marks were posted should they disagree with this mark.

8.2.1.a. Students must submit a written request for their mark to be revised and state their reasons for the request. The request must be addressed to the professor who coordinates the module and submitted to the Secretariat of the Vice Dean’s Office of the corresponding degree programme in accordance with the forms they may find at the Student Information and Guidance Service. The professor who coordinates the module or teaches the course must respond in writing within at most seven working days, and the response must be addressed to the Secretariat of the degree programme so that it can be forwarded to the student. 8.2.1.b. If the revision entails changing the mark, the corresponding report must be rectified.

8.2.2. If the student still disagrees with the final mark on the module or course, they have seven working days after the date on which they receive the response by the professor who coordinates the module or teaches the course to follow the grievance procedure and request an evaluation by an extraordinary committee. In order to request this, students must first have requested and received the revision described in point 8.2.1.

8.2.2.a. The request for evaluation by committee shall be addressed individually, in writing and as an official report to the dean, using the form provided at the Student Information and Guidance Service. The dean shall appoint, for every academic year, a committee for every degree, consisting of a different teacher of the subject other than the one affected and the director of the corresponding

degree. The purpose of this committee will be to resolve any grievances filed by students regarding evaluation. The committee shall decide on the result and communicate this result in writing to the student in at most ten working days from the start of the proceedings.

8.2.2.a.1. Prior to its final decision, the committee may perform the following actions:

Re-correct the evaluation tests.

Reject the grievance after having examined it.

When the grievance is regarding an oral exam, call the student in to retake it.

When the grievance is regarding a written exam, the committee cannot nullify it either totally or partially. However, it can offer a complementary test.

Ask for all documentation regarding the mark on a module or course in order to evaluate the student’s academic progress as a whole.

8.2.2.b. Ultimately, in accordance with the bylaws of the Universitat Ramon Llull, the student may address the rector of this university within the legally stipulated timeframe, namely four months from the date of notification of the result of the grievance. After this decision, there will be no further possibility of recourse.

8.2.2.c. The fact that the student requests a review of their final mark on a module or course and is awaiting a decision does not exempt them from appearing at any examination period that might be underway. If the decision on the results of the first examination period is favourable to the student, the results of the period shall be nullified.

8.2.3. In the event of disagreement with the salient formal aspects of an academic evaluation report, a student, a group of students or the Faculty Council may take the initiative to request that the dean challenge it. In this case, the dean may, if needed, ask that the academic evaluation report be repeated, or the dean may delegate the case to an ad hoc committee to be examined; in this case, the committee must issue a decision within at most 15 working days. In any event, if anomalies are detected in any academic evaluation report, the dean may decide to either nullify or cancel it.

8.2.4. Students who only have one module or course left to do before completing their studies, and who have failed at least six examination periods (not counting no-shows) may submit a request to the dean for evaluation through credit compensation of this module or course.

8.2.4.a. To request evaluation through credit compensation, the following conditions must be borne in mind:

At the start of the semester when the request is submitted, they must have exhausted at least six examination periods (not counting no-shows) of the last module or course needed to complete the degree programme. The Bachelor’s Final Project is excluded from the calculation of the number of modules pending.

Practicums and Bachelor’s Final Project cannot undergo evaluation through credit compensation.

In the case of students who have had to adapt to a new curriculum or who have transferred from another university, the number of failed examination periods already exhausted in the previous curriculum from which they come shall be calculated.

Evaluation through credit compensation may only be requested once.

Requests addressed to the dean must be submitted to the Academic Secretariat of the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences by the 30th of September or the 15th of March of each academic year.

8.2.4.b. In order to undertake evaluate by compensation for students who request it, in each academic year the Faculty shall establish an evaluation through credit compensation committee which shall act according to the following criteria:

It shall be made up of three professors from the Blanquerna-URL Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences appointed by the dean who teach in the degree programme of the applicant, one of whom shall serve as the secretary.

A professor who has evaluated the student in any of the examination periods in the module or course for which evaluation through credit compensation is requested may not be a member of the committee.

The committee shall meet twice a year, in October and April.

The committee must evaluate the student’s academic record, the knowledge they have acquired, their overall ability to work in the profession and any circumstances pertinent to the case, although new evaluation tests may not be administered under any circumstances.

The committee may request complementary reports on the student from their professors or tutors.

8.2.4.c. Decision:

The decision shall be issued in a report by the secretary of the Committee and will become part of the student’s academic record.

The decision can be favourable or unfavourable.

If it is favourable, the mark that shall appear on the student’s academic record in the examination period immediately after the date on which the request was submitted shall be 5 (passing by compensation).
