industrial fed, imported deforestation; landgrabbing, evictions impact on indigenous peopleand other population …)

• Less use of veterinarian products.• Highest level of animal wellbeing: ethical

products

Environmental management

• High Nature Value Farming: the most valuablefarming systems in Europe for biodiversity, qulityfood and climate (e.g. Wood pastures)

• Mayor biodiversity tool for preserving: e.g. Spain: according to the EU, 17 Habitats of ComunityInterest need reinstate grazing and other 15 depend on pastoral practices.

• Grazing is the best cost-benefit tool for fireprevention

• Pastures are main carbon sinks

Territorial balance

• Small livestock system are key againstdepopulation of rural areas (a major threat).

• They key for rural economic network and activateother economies.

• Produce in “marginal areas” non productive foragriculture.

• Specially significant for communal use of theterritory (e.g. Common grazings areas, existing in at least 18 countries in Europe; e.g. in Spain around

27% of livestock graze in Common pastures.

But…

• No support from policies such as CAP orclimate polici tools

• Pressures from intensive meat industrycompetition and now from Vegan and artificial meat industries.

• Dismantel of rural services crucial for viabilityof pastoral systems: e.g. Close of smallabbatoirs all over Europe.
