Mike McCarthy was named the 14th head coach of the Green Bay Packers on January 12, 2006. He enters his 18th season as an NFL coach and his fifth campaign as a head coach. McCarthy has guided the Packers to two playoff appearances. In 2009, Green Bay finished with a 11-5 record and earned a Wild Card berth in the playoffs. The Packers have ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in total offense in each of McCarthy’s four seasons with the club. He was named the Motorola Coach of the Year, matched a

Packers franchise record with 13 victories and claimed the NFC North title in 2007. McCarthy previously served as an NFL assistant for 13 years, including six seasons as offensive coordinator in San Francisco (2005) and New Orleans (2000-04). Prior to joining the 49ers, McCarthy served as the QBs coach at Green Bay for one season (’99). Born November 10, 1963 in Pittsburgh, PA, McCarthy worked as the Chiefs QBs coach (’95-98) after originally joining Kansas City as the club’s offensive quality control coach (’93-94). McCarthy began his coaching career at Fort Hays State (’87-88). He then took a position at Pitt (’89-92) before venturing to the NFL. He is a graduate of Baker (KS) University and was enshrined in that school’s Hall of Fame this season.

Haley joined the Chiefs after a two-year stint as Arizona’s offensive coordinator (2007-08), helping the Cardinals reach Super Bowl XLIII as the club won its first division title since

’75. Under Haley’s direction, the Cardinals ranked third in the league in scoring as Arizona registered a franchise-record 427 points in 2008. The Cardinals also threw a team-record 32 TD passes in 2007. Haley has won division titles with four different NFL teams. He served as passing game coordinator/WRs coach under Bill Parcells with Dallas (2004-06) after beginning his career under Parcells with the N.Y. Jets (’97-00). He also served as WRs coach with Chicago (2001-03). Born on February 28, 1967, Haley grew up in Upper St. Clair, PA. THE LAST TIMEPackers 33, Chiefs 22Packers 33, Chiefs 22

November 11, 2007 • Arrowhead Stadium • 78,988

What began as a defensive slugfest between the Chiefs and Packers turned into a fourth-quarter shootout at Arrowhead. Trailing 13-7 after three quarters, the Chiefs didn’t have enough answers to match Packers QB Brett Favre as both teams combined for 35 fourth-quarter points with Green Bay winning a wild 33-22 decision. Favre checked the final team off of his win list – joining QBs Tom Brady and Peyton Manning as the only other signal callers to defeat all 31 other NFL franchises – by throwing for 360 yards and two TDs on the afternoon. Green Bay mounted a 6-0 lead thanks to a pair of K Mason Crosby field goals in the second quarter. CB Benny Sapp made the Chiefs first big play, intercepting Favre and returning it to the Green Bay 30-yard line just before halftime. A pass interference penalty in the end zone set up a one-yard TD dive from RB Larry Johnson. Despite being outgained 181 to 62 in total yards, the Chiefs held an improbable 7-6 lead at halftime. Green Bay took a 13-7 lead in the third quarter when LB A.J. Hawk intercepted QB Damon Huard to set up a 13-yard TD pass from Favre to WR Greg Jennings. That TD sparked the Chiefs as they answered with their first prolonged drive. Huard first completed a pair of passes to TE Tony Gonzalez. Then Huard slipped a screen pass out to Johnson, who turned it into a 30-yard TD as the Chiefs took a 14-13 lead. Not to be outdone, Favre hit WR Donald Driver on an incredible 44-yard pass on the very next play, moving the Packers down to the KC 16-yard line. The Chiefs relinquished just a 32-yard field goal as the Packers regained a 16-14 lead with under 9:00 left. The Chiefs would bounce right back with a six-play, 82-yard scoring march. Johnson got the drive jump-started with 19 yards on the first two plays, but suffered a right foot injury on the second play forcing him to the leave the game. A 25-yard defensive pass interference call on CB Charles Woodson would move Kansas City to the GB 17-yard line. From there Huard whizzed a TD pass to Gonzalez, giving the Chiefs a 20-16 lead. RB Priest Holmes would convert the two-point conversion on a dive over the pile to push the lead to 22-16 with 5:18 remaining. That was too much time for Favre. Three straight short completions gave way to a 60-yard touchdown bomb to Jennings, who ran untouched through the Chiefs secondary. The sixth lead change of the game gave the Packers a 23-22 advantage that they would never relinquish. Kansas City appeared to fire right back when Huard hit WR Jeff Webb down the sideline for a 36-yard gain. However, a Packers challenge overturned the completion, ruling that Webb’s second foot come down out of bounds. The Chiefs would be forced to punt and gave up another field goal on the ensuing possession. Trailing by four with 1:40 remaining, the stage was set for a comeback drive by Kansas City, but it was not to be. On the third play, Huard was picked off by Woodson near midfield and the interception was returned for the game-clinching touchdown, sealing the 33-22 Packers win.
