What went well..

Our initial plan was to just recreate the ‘Hit Me baby One More Time’ video but when we were discussing what actors we were going to use we thought up an idea of using various actors in replacement for Brittney. So when you watch the video there is all in all 3 ‘Brittney's’. We thought this worked well because it gives the video a bit of a twist, and also so we didn't have to struggle finding somebody who looked exactly alike Britney Spears. The settings worked well, we was fortunate that our school is quite traditional with the laminate floors, white boards and thin corridors aligned with lockers. So this made it look a lot like the real thing. We did copy some of the shots from the real music video for example when there is Brittney and girls behind her doing a dance sequence in the corridor, when Brittney is tapping her pen at the very beginning and also when she has her head against the locker singing in a sorrowful way. These went really well, with a full hiccups but overall it worked. The clothes the students were wearing for example the boys in trousers and unbuttoned shirts with no ties and messy collars; also the girls white unbuttoned shirts, makeup and hair up in bunches all put towards making the video as successful as what it is. All the students in the class were enthusiastic and confident, help us create the video with great ease.

Here we tried to rein-act the emotion that Brittany was showing by leaning her against the lockers and making her put on a sad expression. The hair and white unbuttoned shirt along with the grey cardigan makes the image look very similar.

When we did the dancing we exaggerated on the amount of students Brittany had behind her and put double the amount. We did this not only to differentiate our video from the official one but because we thought it would look a lot more effective and dramatic.

What didn't work so well..

We had a lot of struggle with the lip syncing, this was because we were literally only a few seconds out but found it so hard to correct that we just had to leave it on most parts. Also because the girls who themed in the video had never lip synced before, they wasn’t brilliant at it, so some of the words failed to look like their being sung. Also the lighting in some of the corridor scenes wasn’t as bright as we’d have liked it because of the fact that the windows were so far down the corridor and they were our only light source. Also when we were editing it, we realised that we hasn’t filmed a bell ringing or a clock ticking, so we had to put in odd pictures we found on Google to replace the bell and clock. This took away the high quality of the video. Lastly, the cameras we used were only around a 3 gig, so the quality of the filming wasn’t as good as the official video, and it kind of made our video look a bit unprofessional.

What I have learned..

Through doing this preliminary task the, one of the main things I have walked away with is skills on the Adobe software. I now have a bit of knowledge on how to get the lip syncing right, and also adding music to your footage. I have also discovered how hard it is to lip sync, this is because you cant sing with the music, instead you have to be very over enthusiastic. So its harder than I thought it would be. Also in future references when I am doing dance routines I will have to make sure they are thoroughly rehearsed and also present it so that the strongest are at the front. Also I have realised that when it comes to do my real music video a camera that had 5 or more gig

will work most effictively.
