“Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:18-20 (ESV)

The power of God is released when we come into agreement with Him.

Over the next few minutes as you spend time in worship and reflection during Holy Communion we invite you to pray these prayers of agreement with God’s Word over your life, marriage, singleness, family, and finances.

My Life

Father, I come into agreement with Your Word that declares… that I am no longer condemned because I am in Christ, and I have been set free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2)… that there is no temptation that can overtake me (1 Corinthians 10:13)… that I am a new creation because I belong to Christ, and I am free from my old life (2 Corinthians 5:17)… that You, the Lord of peace will give me peace at all times and in every way (2 Thessalonians 3:16)… that I will not have a spirit of fear, but that I will walk with power, love and a sound mind(2 Timothy 1:7)

My Finances/Business

Father, I come into agreement with Your Word over my business and finances… that You are the one that gives me the power to produce wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18)… that I will walk in favor with a good reputation before God and others (Proverbs 3:4)… that you have equipped me and given me every skill needed for the task (Exodus 35:35)…that if I am faithful with the little I will be put in charge over much (Matthew 25:21)… that You will generously provide everything that I need so that I will have plenty left over to share with others and bring glory to God. (2 Corinthians 9:6-10).

My Marriage

Father, we come into agreement with Your Word over our marriage… that we will clothe our marriage in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians 2:12)… that we will submit to one another out of reverence for Christ, showing each other love and respect (Ephesians 5:21-33)… that our home will be built on Your wisdom (Proverbs 24:3)… that we will delight in our love for each other and be excited to be with each other (Song of Songs 4:10)… that we will build each other up, letting no corrupt talk come out of our mouths (Ephesians 4:29)… that the two of us will become one (Genesis 2:24).

My Children

Father, I come into agreement with Your Word over my children… that they can do all things through You who gives them strength (Philippians 4:13)… that they will be strong and courageous and not walk in fear (Joshua 1:9)… that they will not be anxious, but learn hot to pray and bring their needs to You (Philippians 4:6)… that you will supply all their needs because You have all that they need (Philippians 4:9)… that they will learn to trust You with all their heart, and not their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5)… that You will show them their path in life, granting them the joy of Your presence (Psalm 16:11)… that they will love You with all their heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37)

My Singleness

Father, we come into agreement with Your Word over my singleness… that I will make the most of marriage or singleness, whatever you have chosen and planned for me. If it’s not your will for me to marry, help me see all that you have planned for me — in gifting, ministry, and singleness. Anchor my heart firmly in you, and not in marriage. (Luke 22:42) Show me more of yourself and shape my life to reveal your glory. Reveal how much bigger and more beautiful you are than marriage, or any other dream or desire I might have. (Ephesians 1:16-19) You are more than enough for me. Order my loves according to your surpassing worth and beauty, and guard my eyes and mind from being preoccupied with anyone or anything besides you. Capture my heart again, and secure it against all of Satan’s lies. (Psalm 119) Help me see every loss or disappointment, every moment of loneliness, every unfulfilled dream or desire, and every evidence of weakness as an opportunity to remember and enjoy the strength, hope, and rest you bought for me with the blood of your Son. Remind me that you are working all of this, every inch, in every way, for my good. (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)

My Singleness (Continued)

Surround me with people who love me, and who love you more than they love me, especially while I would otherwise live alone. Reveal things about me to me through their eyes, their faith and maturity, and their words. Make me a healthier, more effective member of the local church. Rescue me from the blindness and self-centeredness of isolation. (Ephesians 4:11-16) Help me see any success or progress as evidence of your grace, and wean me off of the love of money and human approval. (Colossians 3:23-24) Restrain me from doing anything to make his death look cheap or meaningless. Equip me to increasingly think, talk, and act like someone who has been saved at infinite cost and entrusted with the greatest news the world has ever known. (Philippians 1:9-11) Give me clarity in dating, and guard me from all impurity. Let patience, selflessness, and humility mark every relationship, every date, every conversation, and every step forward. (Philippians 2:3-8)

Love over Hate and Prejudice

Father, I come into agreement with Your Word that declares… that we are all members of one body and there are no differences between us (1 Corinthians 12:13)… that anyone who hates a brother or sister in Christ is living in darkness (1 John 2:11)… that like You, I will not look on the outward appearance but at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7)… that I will be kind and compassionate to others and walk in forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32)… that I will love others as You love me (John 13:34)… that I will recognize everyone is made in Your image (Genesis 1:27).

In the name of Jesus, I bind all intolerance, hatred and prejudice. Forgive me for tolerating prejudice in my life, no matter how big or small. Set me free from the influence of public opinion that tries to stir up hatred. Set me free from the lies and false beliefs that I carry towards others, even the ones I may have learned from my family.

In the name of Jesus, I release love, acceptance, and forgiveness in my life towards those who are different from me. I will walk in love, esteeming and delighting in others. I will see their differences as blessings in my life. I pray that I will walk in the same unity shared by Jesus and the Father, and that I will be an example of how to love and walk in unity. I will bring honor and respect to everyone I encounter.
