How can we benefit from the working results of the idea workshops and the specialist groups

Setting trends - a strategic area of responsibilities for the ICV

• The ICV has managed to set lasting trends since 2003, trends which draw attention across the controller community:

- sustainable / green-controlling

=> pioneering role in the presently most important area of economic activities

- quality standards in controlling (DIN SPEC 1086)

=> accepted guidelines in German speaking region

- IFRS & Controlling

=> up till now most wanted ICV statement

- modern budgeting

=> well-established answer to the debate Beyond Budgeting

- BilMoG & Controlling

=> strictly followed and practically oriented preparation of accounting knowledge for controllers

- Levels of Impact - Model

=> international acceptance for the ICV in communication controlling

- conception of a "three-column-balance sheet"

=> ICV specialist conference, contact to IASB

- Business Intelligence

=> The ICV provides guidance for one of the future themes in controlling (WHU study)

- 34. Controller Congress 2009=> TZ A: managing risks successfully (FAK controlling & risk-management)=> TZ D: communication controlling (FAK communication controlling)

• Speakers from specialist groups appear in reginal ICV work groups- e.g.: Nord III (Quality), Weser-Harz (Communication), Berlin-Brandenburg (IFRS)

Opportunities of the idea workshop and the specialist groups should be better used for shaping the regional conferences and regional WG meetings (contact addresses are available on the ICV website)


And finally…

• Creation of idea workshop in 2001 and foundation of 11 specialist groups since 2003 is a success story of the ICV.

• The combination of practical experience and scientific expertise gave the ICV potential to become a trendsetter in controlling practice.
