At this year’s Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo, taking place in Florida from 11th to 13th of January, the REINTJES local partner Karl Senner is presenting the compact REINTJES Hybrid System at booth no. 3000.

By means of its hydraulically operated clutches the system allows easy switching between the following different operation modes:

• Diesel mode: Diesel engine is primary mover only, as common in standard applications.

• PTI mode: The propeller is powered through the attached electric motor only, with power coming from the genset or any other electric power source onboard.

• PTO mode: The diesel engine is driving the motor / generator on its own or in combination with the propeller to supply electric power to drive the second propeller, to charge batteries or to supply electric power to the main grid.

• Boost mode: Combined power of the diesel engine and the electric motor to drive the propeller.

• Dynamic Positioning mode: In this process only one of the shaft systems is operated with the diesel engine. The generator being driven in parallel supplies energy for the PTI motor on the second shaft system; thus saving fuel and operating hours on the other diesel engine.

With conventional diesel driven propulsion systems low engine speeds would result in poor combustion in the main engines, higher fuel consumption and more emissions, and increase of wear and tear of the main engine. With its Hybrid System REINTJES provides an exceptional solution in the fi eld of emission-free drive technology which combines low noise and vibrations with signifi cant CO2, SOx and NOx reduction.

REINTJES supplies the complete package for the highly compact hybrid drives. All components, from the gearbox via the electric motor to the frequency converter, are perfectly adjusted to each other which considerably reduces project and assembly costs. As with all other REINTJES products, the service for hybrid drives is available 24/7 all year round.
