Introduction to PDA

• iba is the major supplier for Process Data Acquisiton Systems for the leading Automation Companies of the world :

• Basically it’s a tool which is useful for troubleshooting and Monitoring of equipments in plant.

• We can generate reports directly by using this tool.

System Overview

ibaPDA v6

 • ibaPDA – a classic among data acquisition systems has evolved.• The ibaPDA offers a variety of new and valuable functions. • Both maintenance and production department will take advantage of an optimized

data acquisition according to their needs.

Client-Server Architecture

• ibaPDA software will comes with one server and two clients in default.• The tasks for configuration, data acquisition, recording, and trending of live data are

distributed over multiple processes in a client-server architecture.• The server acquires and stores data while clients display the measured data.• We could increase the number of client by using an extra client license or a multi-

client license.• Multiple clients can access one server. Thus, any measured data from a server may

be displayed on different client machines simultaneously.

System Overview

Scalable Sampling Timebase For usual measuring the sampling time base may be set between 1 and 1000

ms.

OPC-Client Interface• ibaPDA-V6 can connect to an OPC-Server as an OPC-Client.

Data Sources and Modules• A wide range of different data sources and interfaces can be used for data

acquisition such as ibaFob, Profibus, TCP/IP, OPC and Reflective Memory.

Virtual Signals + Expression Editor• Virtual signals can be created using arithmetic and Boolean operations via the

expression editor. These signals can be treated like raw data signals, i.e. they can be recorded to the data file, whilst also being used as a trigger mechanism.

System Overview

Iba Hardwares

• ibaPADU :- The Analog and Digital signals to be measured could directly connected to ibaPADU and transfer those signal to PDA system through Fiber optic cable using a Fiber optic card known as ibaFOB cards.

• According to the number of signals to be measured, different PADU’s are available. ibaPADU-8 for eight analog and digital signals likewise, ibaPADU-16 and ibaPADU-32 are available.

• cards :- These cards are used to receive and send signals. PCI and PCI express cards for connecting iba field devices and system couplings.

Fault analysis is the most important part of Pda ,which makes you a step ahead when fault occurs in process specially when it is repetitive.

Fault analysis.

Page 12: ppt on PDA.pptx

• Blowing and cleaning of server and client cpu done at monthly basis.• Fibre optics and profibus connector tightness checking done at monthly

quarterly basis.• Saved iba files transferred to external storage device on weekly basis.• Back up of entire sever including configuration and signals are taken on

quarterly basis or after any changes.• Anti virus software run on regular basis.

General maintenance.

Page 13: ppt on PDA.pptx

• Process can be viewed graphically in the PDA server or client. And can be judged for the better running of the process.

• Health of the pinch rolls can be monitored. Even all the devices connected in the mill attached to the PDA can be viewed on the PDA and monitored for its working.

• Problem in our case the reason for the cobble can be analyzed with the help of the signals logged, with the help of PDA.

• Any signal which are not connected directly can be obtained virtually be writing the expression for the signal.

• Report can also be generated for any fault occurred.• Any special signal can be connected directly connected to the PDA Digital

module.
