Principles
Ikebanathe Japanese art of
arranging flowers and other plant material in harmony with the environment
HOME
Principles of Ikebana1.There should be three main parts of an arrangement. Each part must enhance the others in line, shape, color, and mood.
2.The stems should be placed at angles; the height of the stems should be calculated to achieve balance and proportion.
3. Containers are usually shallow but must be able to hold at least 8 cm (3 in) of water

Materials
Fact:any natural
substance may be used, and in
contemporary ikebana, glass,
metal, and plastic are also employed
HOME
Procedures: 1. Fill a shallow container with foam that extends one inch over the top. Secure the foam with hot glue, floral clay or floral tape. Define the shape of the design with the line flowers and leaves.

2. Place the focal flowers and leaves, turning the vase as you go so all the sides are even.

3. Add filler flowers to integrate the design.
HOMEBACK
Once you have finished arranging your flowers you should try to keep them out of direct sunlight or heat and away from fruit as exposure will exacerbate the wilting process. You should also remember to keep topping the water up and to change it every few days.
