    1. OBJECTIVE

    To ensure that personal protective equipment is used by all the employees, contractors, vendors and visitors to the various locations and job sites of Agility (Abu Dhabi). Personal protective equipment is provided by the company for the protection of the employees and relevant stakeholders and ensures that full use is being made whenever necessary and appropriate.

    2. INTRODUCTION / PURPOSE The purpose of this procedure is to define the basic requirements of PPE to protect all the employees in Agility (Abu Dhabi), contractors and visitors from accidental injuries and occupational illnesses.

    4. DEFINITIONS PPE Refers to personal protective equipment to be pulled on for avoiding

    or mitigating incident hurts and occupational injuries

    Basic PPE serves for the general protection purpose: working uniforms, safety shoes, safety helmets, and safety glasses

    Special PPE personal protective equipment, other than the basic PPE, used to protect against special hazards (such as: fall, energy release, corrosion, striking objects, asphyxiation, toxicity, hot/cold burn) for instance, body harness, chemical protective clothing, welding masks and self-contained respiratory apparatus, etc

    For PPE Evaluation and type selection To organize, assess, review, approve and maintenance of PPE Vendor records To provide Awareness trainings with respect to usage and maintenance of PPE To provide related technical support for the locations regarding PPE Management To update this procedure as and when required To ensure that the needs for PPE are assessed by a person who is competent to

    judge whether other methods of risk control can offer better protection of safety and health than the provision of PPE

    To obtain professional advice and, where necessary, to identify the most suitable types of PPE for the tasks to be carried out

    To provide training to Supervisors and employees and to make them ensure the proper selection, fit, use, cleaning and maintenance of PPE

    To supervise and enforce the PPE Management policy To evaluation of the effectiveness of the PPE program which is to be carried out on

    a regular basis To ensure that suitable PPE is provided for visitors who may be exposed to hazards

    in the workplace. To ensure that the PPE is properly maintained and kept clean and before re-issue

    Relevant department are responsible for:

    Implementation of risk assessments to identify special PPE requirements for the individual areas

    Participate in the assessment and review of individual PPE Vendor Be responsible for the quality control of special PPE (If any) including check and

    acceptance on PPE packaging, integrity etc. Provide PPE training and necessary information to all related personnel within the

    response area Provide related PPE to the visitors Be responsible for PPE daily management (usage, replacement, discarding etc) and

    supervision

    Users:

    All related personnel, including employees, contractors, and visitors - are responsible for wearing proper PPE in accordance with procedures in all the required locations or tasks, using & maintaining the PPE in accordance with the instructions and the trainings they received. Contractors: When contractors work in the locations of Agility (Abu Dhabi), the related PPE such as reflective jackets, gloves etc. shall be provided to contractor.

    Contractor shall provide and make sure their staff meets the following Agility PPE Requirements and specifying the methods of maintaining such PPE. All these PPE shall conform to International standards and Agility requirement. Contractor is also responsible for training the workforce in how to use the PPE.

    6. PROCEDURE

    6.1 PPE WEARING REQUIREMENTS Personal Protective Equipments are issued under the approval of QHSE department. QHSE Manager will be deciding upon the type of PPE to be used along with the respective HOD / Section Manager. PPE usage varies from site / locations. Agility (Abu Dhabi) stipulates the usage of PPE on various locations as given below: a. Maintenance Yard

    Employees who venture in the area of Maintenance yard has to mandatorily comply with the following PPEs:

    Eye and Face Protection - Filter lens shall be used for protection from radiant energy, flying sparks and

    spatter - Safety glasses with side shields (or goggles) for protection against flying metal,

    slag chips, grinding fragments, wire wheel bristles etc

    Ear Protection - Ear Plugs to protect hearing and prevent hearing loss. It also prevent sparks,

    spatter and hot metal from entering your ears and causing burns

    Head Protection - Safety helmet must be worn all times to protect;

    a persons head from falling object a person from striking his/her head against a fixed object; or inadvertent head contact that may be made with electrical hazards

    Foot Protection

    - Safety shoes To protect the toe from nails and other sharp items

    Hand Protection

    - Heavy Duty Gloves Always wear dry, hole-free, insulated welding gloves in good condition. They will help protect the hands from burns, sparks, heat, cuts, scratches, and electric shock.

    - Welding Gloves All welders shall wear protective flame-resistant gloves, such as leather welder's gloves. They should provide the heat resistance and general hand protection needed for welding

    Body Protection - Coverall - Wear oil-free protective clothing / coverall made of wool or heavy

    cotton. They are used to protect your arms and neck from radiation exposure and skin burns (caused by ultraviolet radiation from the arc)

    - Reflective Jacket always wear reflective jackets inside and outside the maintenance yard to protect ourselves from heavy vehicle movement

    b. Container Terminal Workers working in the container terminal shall comply to the below mentioned PPEs

    Head Protection - Safety helmet must be worn all times to protect;

    a persons head from falling object a person from striking his/her head against a fixed object; or inadvertent head contact that may be made with electrical hazards

    Body Protection

    - Coverall Wear oil-free protective clothing / coverall made of wool or heavy cotton. They are used to protect your arms and neck from radiation exposure and skin burns (caused by ultraviolet radiation from the arc)

    - Reflective Jacket always wear reflective jackets inside and outside the maintenance yard to ensure proper visibility and to protect people from heavy vehicle movement

    Hand Protection - Heavy Duty Gloves Always wear dry, hole-free, heavy duty gloves in good

    condition that will help in protecting the hands from wear and tear, heat, cuts and scratches due to constant working with shackles and chains.

    Head Protection - Safety helmet must be worn all times to protect;

    a persons head from falling object a person from striking his/her head against a fixed object; or inadvertent head contact that may be made with electrical hazards

    Body Protection

    Outside the Mina Port Operations area and Inside the Mina port

    Body Protection - Reflective Jacket always wear reflective jackets inside and outside the

    maintenance yard to protect ourselves from heavy vehicle movement - Beacon lights all vehicle shall have a beacon light to be affixed atop of their

    vehicle whenever they enter inside the Mina port gate

    d. Warehouse All employees working inside the warehouse shall comply to the below mentioned PPEs

    Body Protection - Reflective Jacket always wear reflective jackets inside and outside of the

    warehouse to protect ourselves from forklift movements

    Foot Protection - Safety shoes To protect the toe from nails and other sharp items

    Hand Protection

    - Dotted Gloves Always wear dry, hole-free, dotted gloves that will help to protect your hands from cuts and scratches while handling with breakable items

    Head Protection - Safety helmet must be worn all times to protect;

    a persons head from falling object a person from striking his/her head against a fixed object; or inadvertent head contact that may be made with electrical hazards

    e. Oil and Gas sectors

    Personnel who visit to the Oil and Gas Sectors shall comply to the below; H2S Detectors this is used in H2S areas to ensure safe escape in case of H2S

    leakage Escape masks this is used in H2S areas to ensure safe escape in case of H2S

    leakage Spark Arrestors this is used in vehicles exhaust pipes to prevent any fire in the

    oil fields due to the ignition caused by the vehicles engine

    6.2 TRAININGS ON USAGE OF PPE

    PPE application & maintenance trainings shall be provided to new employees, contractors and visitors through HSE orientation by QHSE Department. Related special PPE application & maintenance trainings shall be provided to Operations Departments and Contractors through HSE trainings by QHSE Department. The trainings shall be planned at least once a year by the relevant departments. The training frequency will be increased appropriately if necessary (such as significant changes or non-conformity occurrence).

    Contractor persons shall get corresponding PPE application trainings by contractor.

    6.3 PPE DISTRIBUTION AND REPLACEMENT

    Employees of departments should fill in the Material Requisition Form (AGL-GIL-AUH-QHSE-041) and acquire PPE from the QHSE Department. Relevant records shall be kept for at least 3 year. Assigned personnel of each Department will be responsible for PPE distribution and records maintenance based on PPE requirements identification. The department / personnel in charge will request for temporary PPE borrowing for visitors or short-term contractors before they enter the locations. PPE in normal conditions needs to be replaced based on PPE replacement period or lifecycle defined in products introductions, and all old PPE will be replaced with new ones. Employees who leave the organization must hand over all the PPE to the relevant department.

    6.4 PPE APPLICATION, CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

    Risk assessments shall be implemented for each working position with potential hazards. Based on the results, every effort should be made to eliminate the risks to the individuals by reasonable changes to the process, equipments or operating procedures. Where risks are unavoidable, PPE is the last protection for the persons. Basic PPE is to be worn according to area requirements when entering the defined areas. PPE mandatory signs should be placed distinctly in each concerned area. Depending on the risks related to the specific work to be performed, special PPE has to be used according to the related work permits or SOP. The PPE shall be checked or tested periodically and kept it in good condition according to its specific instruction. Working uniforms shall be gathered and cleaned by specialized cleaning companies if necessary.

    Other PPE like safety helmets, safety glasses or masks and safety shoes can be cleaned by clean water after being used if necessary.

    6.5 PPE COMPLIANCE AUDIT

    Audits will be conducted periodically by a team, which consists of members from QHSE Department, department related personnel to ensure that all the above procedures are followed strictly. For all non-compliance found during company level specialized audits and the internal inspection, corrective actions need to be established and fulfilled by the responsible departments & staff, and followed up based on the appointed deadline.

    6.6 PPE SPECIFICATION

    Refer to Annexure A for PPE Specification.
