Gain an improved and broader knowledge of type and it's uses in design.

1 TAKING TYPE FOR MY OPTIONAL MODULE PROVED INCREDIBLY USEFUL.

LEARNT A HUGE AMOUNT ABOUT TYPE, EVERYTHING FROM DOUBLE PAGE LAYOUT TO CREATING AREAS OF TONE WITHIN A PAGE AND THE FINE DETAILS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF TYPEFACES.

Learn about the print and finishing processes that I can apply to give my work a more professional finish.

Learn how to effectively use colour in my design and how it translates from screen to print.

SCANNING STOCK SAMPLES ALLOWED ME TO APPLY COLOUR MORE EFFECTIVELY ON SCREEN FOR THE PREVIOUS PROJECT AS IT GAVE A MUCH BETTER IDEA OF HOW IT MAY LOOK WHEN PRINTED.

My ability to produce concepts that I am happy with and become more concept driven in general.

CONCEPT BUILDING WAS NEVER ONE OF MY STONG POINTS AND AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR IT WAS AN AREA OF MY DESIGN THAT I WAS EAGER TO IMPROVE ON.

I FELT THAT THIS WAS MY STRONGEST BRIEF, BOTH CONCEPTUALLY AND VISUALLY.

My knowledge in Graphic Design as subject, history, uses, symbolism etc.

CONTEXTUAL STUDIES PROVED INTEGRAL TO THIS AND PROVIDED ME WITH A GOOD GROUNDING IN DESIGN HISTORY.

SOMETHING THAT I FEEL WILL FEED FROM MY DISSERTATION AND THEORETICAL RESEARCH INTO MY OWN PRACTICE IS THE VIEWS OF SWISS MODERNIST DESIGNERS.

SIMILARLY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONCEPTS, I OFTEN FIND MYSELF WITH AN IDEA BUT DON’T KNOW HOW BEST TO VISUALISE IT.

I FOUND I’VE IMPROVED THIS IN THE LAST PROJECT BY THOROUGHLY DEVELOPING EACH ASPECT OF MY DESIGN, AND USING FEEDBACK FROM CRITS TO STAY ON TRACK.
