Featured Athlete: Bruce Bradley

Bruce Bradley has participated in Nationals for 35 years. For eleven of those years he started and led the Red Cross Team and the California State University San Marcos Team. He is the epitome of a team player and will volunteer wherever needed. He has provided emergency medical treatment and first aid for all Nationals since 1985, treating injured or sick athletes on many teams.

Bruce leads by example. He has run nearly every distance on the track, the 5K and 10K as well as thrown the shot put and discus. He fills in wherever the team needs him most and shows others that effort can make the difference in a meet.

His greatest achievement has always been to get people to participate and perform at a level they didn’t think possible. He loves the team aspect of our sport. Seeing one of his team members achieve a goal and win is as gratifying to him as winning himself. He also loves competition - running a sub 50 400m in his younger days.

Whether he volunteers or is asked, you can always count on Bruce to deliver and exceed expectations. He will be a busy man this weekend - running 3-4 events for AT&T and providing first aid and medical treatment for all athletes as needed.

If you are running 5K or the 10K, Bruce will be leading the race on his bike! Whew!!!!

If you run into Bruce this weekend, thank him for all of his years of service to help make this meet successful.

GE Runners

The first competition for GE was in 1978 in Los Altos,

California – wow! This marks GE’s 41st year of participation

in the Corporate Championships. While some of our team

members are veterans of every meet, this year we are

fortunate to find and receive the support to bring new team

members into the fold. Not only are we eager to share with

them the fun, excitement, and competitive thrill of corporate

competition, but we are pleased to have the opportunity to

share our own experience, training ideas, and support with

these fellow employees. Integrity both on and off the track is

our guiding principle, and we look forward to a heated

competition with other, like-minded corporate challengers.

No matter where we place in the standings, meeting up with

old friends and enjoying the heat of battle is what makes our

participation worthwhile. We’re proud to represent GE’s

worldwide employees amongst so many worthy athletes

joining us in corporate athletic competitions. It has been very

rewarding to travel to the country and compete in special

towns like Santa Barbara/ San Ramon/ San

Diego/Sacramento/La Jolla, California; Renton, WA;

Waterville, Maine…. Now in Golden, Colorado with the hard

work from Andrea, Mark, Lou, and Kevin… Thanks so much

that we can enjoy this special weekend.

Good luck to all and enjoy!

AT&T 2018 CORPORATE RELAYS TEAM

Good luck to all 2018 Boulder Corporate Relays participants

AT&T competed for the first time in 1979 in Berkeley, California with 12 athletes. After skipping the next two years the team returned in 1982 and has participated every year since then for a total of 38 years. AT&T divested 70% of the Bell System in 1984; seven “Baby Bells” were formed and the team lost a lot of runners. However, that same year AT&T sponsored the Olympic Torch Relay and the team received a tremendous boost of runners. They came out of the woodwork as virtually every runner in the company wanted to participate. Athletes have come and gone, but lifelong memories and friendships have been formed within the team and with athletes from other teams. The AT&T Team is very appreciative of being able to participate in this annual event. We are looking forward to exciting and friendly competition this year in Golden.

ExxonMobil Tigers Worldwide Corporate

Track and Field and Road Racing Team ExxonMobil employees, contractor and annuitant athletes, from all over the world, train throughout the year for the

opportunity to participate in a national competition. We compete before a stadium full of corporate representative and spectators one or two weekends each year. Our team now has about 100 athletes.

As a fierce team, we attend the National Corporate Cup Relays, a Track & Field and Road Racing Championships held every

summer in July. This event is unique, as it is the only sanctioned national corporate athletic competition of this kind. Because it involves multinational corporations, we consider it to be our World Championship.

The Tigers have gathered to compete at Nationals since 1981. Although we have never won this competition, we placed

among the top teams every year. Our best finish was in Des Moines in 1995, achieving second place with a team of approximately 67 athletes. The 2017 Nationals saw a team of approximately 15 Tigers, fiercely competing, in Boulder,

Colorado.

2018 ExxonMobil Tigers Roster Nora Gentry, Patrick Gustie, Mark Hanlon, Josh Heller, Gerry Hughes, Jovette Jolicoeur, Kim Munksgaard, Stephen Smith, Teni Sulaiman, Ken Thomas, Andrew Warshauer.

Team spirit is the most powerful force behind the Tigers! Together we have trained and prepared.

Together we will give our very best. We are willing to accept the challenge, the pain, the glory and the fun.

WISHING ALL A FUN, COMPETITIVE AND SAFE WEEKEND!

Unum

Unum is a provider of supplemental insurance in the workplace and is the world’s largest provider of long term disability insurance. Although headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the majority of the team’s athletes come from the Portland office in the State of Maine, where the company has approximately 3,000 employees. The Portland offices continue to lead over ten other companies in the Maine Corporate Track Association (MECTA), where companies compete against each other in four summer meets.

Unum attended its first Nationals in 1986 (UCLA) and this year will be the 28th time that Unum has fielded a Nationals team. Unum have had three members inducted into the USCAA Hall of Fame and is proud of a variety of USCAA records. MECTA and Unum hosted the Nationals at Colby College in 1994 and at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland in 2004. Unum has won a total of 6 Nationals championships in DII and DIII, the most recent being in San Marcos in 2014! Unum peaked with the home track advantage in 1994 when 82 employees competed..

Unum will be represented at this year's meet by five employees from the Portland, Maine office. Team members this year include: Sam Seekins (team captain & 2014 overall 5K winner), Lisa Latno, Nate Priest, Allana Verrillo and Eric Evans. The Unum team will be supplemented by seven athletes from the unattached pool. Those athletes are Curtis Tenney, Prentis Johnson, Shawn Lyons, Gerard Coleman, Rochelle Greenfield, Abhishek Jaiantilal, and Chris McDermand. Unum is very excited to be returning to the 2018 Nationals in beautiful Golden, Colorado..

Boulder Road Runners Club

Boulder Road Runners is VERY excited to join the Corporate Track Meet this year for the first time! Our small group of runners hail from Boulder County, Fort Collins, Summit County, and areas in between.
