Last year’s Power to Golf Invitational proved to be a huge success. Avid members of the community came together in collard shirts and visors, spending the day golfing and fundraising for the non-profit organization, Power to Be. “It’s really a special day for the community,” says Tim Quocksister, an advisory board member and president of Silver Arrow Cars. To date, this charitable event has helped raise $1 million dollars for Power to Be, which is a local, program based organization that supports youth and families, in providing adventure based-activities to people living with disabilities. Known for his past contribution of a black 2014 Maserati as a hole-in-one prize, Tim Quocksister acknowledges the success and importance of this event: “It takes a fun and unique event to raise a lot of money. We’re lucky to have so many people willing to come out and make it a true success.” The Prospect Lake Golf Course in Saanich closed early this year to be re-purposed and used as a new site for Power to Be programs. “It’s a great use of the land and resources,” says Tim Quocksister, “It would be a shame to see it go to waste, and it’s great to know that the former golf course has a bright future.” This site will allow easy access to a number of activities, and will also offer waterfront opportunities for participants. Golfing alongside Tim Quocksister are a host of local business owners, professional athletes, and enthusiastic members of the community. If you’d like to golf in this year’s event it will be held on July 14th at the Cordova Bay Golf Course. For more information on this year’s Power to Golf Invitational visit Power to Be’s website.
