Toothed belt and spindle axes EGC/EGC-HD
Power package! The electric axis EGC comes in numerous variants and has lots of benefits, such as high dynamic response and speed, maximum rigidity, high load bearing capacity. In short, it is a powerful range of axes in a mechatronic modular system for both individual and complete system solutions.
• Rigid: optimised aluminium profile for absorbing very high torques and forces
• Efficient: optimally sized drive solution using PositioningDrives
• Reliable: incremental displacement encoder for safety-relevant 2-channel solutions
Highlights
Maximum performance
VersatileThe entire EGC range is available as toothed belt and spindle axes. Numerous sizes and slide variants, an optional central lubrication adapter as well as protected guides open up a broad range of applications.
Quicker planningThe EGC range in the Festo multi-axis modular system offers standardised interfaces for all drives and motor units. Configu-ration with the PositioningDrives software simplifies the design and prevents costly oversizing.
Top performerSpecially developed profiles with an optimised cross section give the drives maximum rigidity and load capacity. Speed, accelera-tion and torque resistance set a new benchmark.
Heavy-duty variant HDThe EGC-HD completes the EGC range with recirculating ball bearing guide. It effectively absorbs lateral forces and torques. With a toothed-belt or spindle drive with two parallel guides, it is perfect for cantilever systems.

Greater positioning accuracy and maximum speed – tooth belts for positioning tasks
• Incremental displacement encoder for position detection
• Enhanced absolute accuracy due to linear displacement encoder
• Detection of all drive train elasticity
• System-intrinsic inaccuracies can be optimally adjusted by the motor controller
• Minimum resolution: 2.5 µm at a maximum 4 m/s
Displacement encoder for monitoring the linear axis• Suitable for safety-oriented
applications (second channel)
Drive mechanisms cannot be monitored exclusively by servo motors with encoders and safety functions in motor controllers or external monitoring systems.
However, with an external linear displacement encoder that directly monitors the position of the axis slide position, these drive mechanisms can also be monitored for prompt, safe responses.
Motor controller CMM…The safety function STO is integrated as standard into all motor controllers in the CMM... range. This ensures easy implementation of emergency stop requirements with Safe Stop SS1 up to category 3, PLd.
For stricter requirements, this range provides optional modules for safety functions up to category 4, PLe.

Design faster with PositioningDrives
Servo motor EMME-AS Stepper motor EMMS-ST-28
PositioningDrives calculates the ideal combination from the widely coordinated range of electromechanical linear axes, motors, gear units and control-lers after a few application data have been entered. The tool can also calculate the characteristic load values for the selected drive quickly and reliably through the
specification of various project parameters. Thanks to the right choice of components, PositioningDrives prevents incorrect designs and energy waste.
