How It Works

Whether converting a location to Shell or upgrading an existing Shell retail outlet, Shell is committed to making the conversion to our retail image, Retail Visual Identity Evolution (RVIe), as simple and cost-effective as possible. The Facility Development Incentive Program (FDIP) offers financial incentives based on branded gasoline volumes that will offset a portion of the project costs.

The incentive amount is based on:

Economic market conditions

Type of facility developed

Total investment amount

Branded gasoline volume purchased and sold through the retail outlet

To maintain this incentive, the retail outlet must meet and continue to maintain the current facility design standards after construction is completed, and continue branded gasoline sales as the primary retail outlet focus.

Supply Reliability

Shell Oil Products US and Motiva Enterprises LLC seek to provide world-class supply reliability to our customers on a daily basis. Together, the two companies operate five major refineries with a combined crude oil refining capacity of over 1.3 million barrels per day. This strong refining position provides assurance to Shell branded Wholesalers, National Accounts and Joint Ventures that they have access to a high quality and reliable supply to meet their needs and the needs of their customers. Beyond equity-refined product, Shell and Motiva are supported by a world-class trading organization to meet supply needs.

Shell branded Wholesalers, National Accounts and Joint Ventures have access to over 285 equity and outside supply points across the United States. These supply points aid in providing flexibility of supply for approximately 14,000 Shell branded retail outlets. This robust supply network is supported 24/7 by the Shell Loading Support Services (LSS) help desk to assist in obtaining product. The help desk is 100% based in Houston, Texas and can be accessed by phone at 1-800-345-6666 or by email at [email protected].

Shell understands the importance of delivering high quality products through a reliable and flexible supply chain. As such, we look forward to helping to meet the needs of Shell branded Wholesalers, National Accounts, Joint Ventures and their customers.

We have to be prepared in the event of a natural disaster, like the hurricanes that have ravaged the East Coast, Mid-Atlantic, and Gulf Coast regions in recent years; or the damage that has occurred throughout “tornado alley.” We have learned from these disasters and have developed plans to help ensure minimal supply interruptions. This process involves the participation of all channel partners and the technological and systematic improvements to which Shell has been committed at all levels of our operations.

When a Tropical Depression is identified, tracking systems are used to identify areas at risk and then time the storm’s arrival at the refineries or terminals. An in-house meteorologist provides

guidance on the storm’s path and strength.

Possible risks are identified early, and inventories are surveyed for both equity-owned terminals and third-party facilities. The refineries and many terminals are equipped with permanent generators, sized to provide adequate power to run the operations and the computer systems.

Shell also works diligently with Wholesalers, National Accounts, Joint Ventures and their operators to secure back-up generators and have them ready to deploy during such events. Through the efforts of Shell and its partners, we are committed to providing our customers the most dependable fuel supply source.

Retail Visual Identity Evolution(RVIe)*

The Shell Retail Visual Identity continues to evolve and modernize to ensure that we continue to express our fuel leadership. As a result, the Shell Retail Visual Identity Evolution (RVIe) consists of a fixed menu of design elements which, when used together, create a dynamic, modern and welcoming retail outlet.

RVIe branding requirements for New-To-Industry (NTI), Raze and Rebuild and New-To-Shell (NTS) are outlined below.**

Requirements for New-To-Industry (NTI) and Raze and Rebuild Sites

Canopy: Minimum RVIe Level 1

C-Store, Car Wash and Other Ancillary Businesses:

Canopy Perfect Approved – Wholesalers, National Accounts and Joint Ventures with their own professional convenience retailing (CR) branding may use their store brand at their Shell branded facility

RVIe Branding – Must comply with all RVIe standards requirements

Dispensers: A minimum of four multi-product dispensers with 4 x 5 display screens or larger approved screen

Dispenser controller and EPOS: Sourced from Shell approved suppliers and capable of operating on current Shell EPOS platforms and equipped with the latest Shell approved software and required functionality. Help desk and software support program provided by approved EPOS supplier.

Prime Sign: Sourced from Shell approved suppliers. The prime sign’s price zone utilizes a 2X single product pricing format utilizing LED PCUs. A combination 2X “Regular” and 1X “Diesel” pricing format may be used when Shell branded diesel is available and priced at the retail outlet. Unbranded diesel may be priced on sign when Shell branded diesel is unavailable. Where local codes require all products to be posted, the 1X pricing format may be utilized to display up to four prices to comply with the local code.

Fuels: Buyer shall maintain, or cause to be maintained, a sufficient amount of all grades of Shell branded gasoline and, if applicable, branded diesel fuel and Shell branded renewable fuel at Buyer’s Outlets.

Co-op Advertising and Marketing Development Program The Co-op Advertising and Marketing Development Program is designed to help Wholesalers achieve their marketing goals, execute Shell programs and invest in customer impression drivers; all by lowering expenses through the reimbursement of select expenses.

Program funds may be used for local sponsorships, billboard/radio/TV and other advertising as well as for a variety of other items such as point-of-purchase materials, site-level promotions, uniforms, lighting and dispenser decals. Using the Co-op Program is a tremendous way

to help increase brand awareness in your local marketing areas.

Program Eligibility

Approved Shell participants who have purchased directly from Shell within the current calendar year are eligible to participate in the Co-op Program. Eligible Wholesalers are responsible for providing program benefits to their retailers.

Co-op Fund Accrual & Timing

Co-op funds are earned based on the net, qualified purchases of Shell branded gasolines purchased directly from Shell in the prior year at a rate of $0.0015 cents per gallon. For example, if you purchased 10 million gallons of Shell gasolines last year, your co-op fund for the current year would be $15,000.

For new Co-op participants, co-op funds are prorated based on projected gasoline volume multiplied by the number of months remaining in the current year multiplied by $0.0015 per gallon.

Based on performance, some Wholesalers may qualify to have their funds auto-paid, eliminating the need to file a claim for reimbursement. Wholesalers who are below the performance threshold minimums may have their co-op funds frozen. Please refer to the current year Co-op Program Guide for full program details.

The Shell Retail Learning Portal (RLP) offers Wholesalers/National Accounts/Joint Ventures and their frontline staff a tool for Shell program and product training. Specifically, the RLP hosts high quality content to provide a consistent and measurable training experience to help align on site-level focus and execution. For ease of use, Shell has made the RLP accessible by smartphone, tablet or computer; and training is specifically designed to meet the needs of frontline staff.

When accessing the site for the first time, learners can create a new or link to an existing Fuel Rewards® account to collect training incentives provided by Shell. Most of the Shell course modules are less than ten minutes, and upon successful completion of a short quiz, learners receive Fuel Rewards® incentives deposited to their linked accounts. This creates an instant reward for training completion! The RLP offers Wholesalers/National Accounts/Joint Ventures training status reporting, so that you can see your organization’s training progress at a glance.

The Shell Diamond Deal Program is a unique program that offers significant money saving procurement opportunities to our Shell branded network. Shell has taken a unique approach of leveraging the size and scale of our network to negotiate and deliver competitive, best-in-class deals to the entire Shell branded network. In the past, these discounted prices would have been available to only the largest Wholesalers, National Accounts or Joint Ventures. Now, through the Diamond Deal Program, best-in-class pricing is available to all Shell Wholesalers, National Accounts, Joint Ventures and Retailers alike. Every Shell retail outlet has the opportunity to purchase equipment and services at the same low price.

The Shell Diamond Deal Program is a free program that offers real savings. The negotiated discounted prices provide value by saving you money on equipment and services you would normally purchase. For example, the Diamond Deal Program includes discounted pricing on retail outlet equipment such as LED interior and exterior lighting, interior graphics packages, security systems, fueling equipment, waste management services, etc.

With Diamond Deal pricing, saving opportunities may be 10%, 15% or even 20% over local supplier pricing. There is no cost or enrollment fee to participate in the program. New deals are regularly developed and communicated to the Shell Network. These deals are ready and available for the taking simply by contacting the suppliers and asking for the Diamond Deal pricing.
