• INTRODUCTION- • Embryologically uterus, fallopian tube and upper one

third of vagina develop from mullerian duct and lower two third of vagina develops from sino-vaginal bulb. Utero-vaginal anomalies(UVAs) are caused by alterations in development or fusion of the müllerian ducts. UVAs are classified into four types(according to Modified Rock and Adam -AFS classification): class I - Dysgenesis, class II - Vertical fusion defects, class III - Lateral fusion defects and class IV - Unusual configurations. Systematic analysis in imaging allows accurate morphologic demonstration and classification of uterovaginal anomalies with associated pelvic lesions or renal anomalies.

• MATERIALS AND METHOD- Patients suspected of having UVA are often initially referred for pelvic ultrasonography (USG) which has a very limited role. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is an excellent tool for studying the external uterine fundal contour and morphology which is the key component of UVA characterization as compared to hysterosalpingography (HSG) which is routinely used in evaluation of infertility.

• RESULTS-We encountered a variety of UVAs in our institution in the current year - septate uterus, arcuate uterus, bicornuate uterus, vaginal septum, prolapsed posterior vaginal wall cyst, and the most rare uterus didelphys left hematocolpos with ipsilateral renal agenesis (Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich (HWW) syndrome).

• CONCLUSION- UVAs are a broad and complex spectrum of abnormalities that are often associated with primary amenorrhea, infertility, obstetric complications and endometriosis. Imaging plays a pivotal role in detecting and there by aiding the management.
