Amanda has takencare of her dad since his retirement years ago. Pleaseremember Amanda in special prayer.

Bogart. He was known to murder the King’s English, but

no other director was able to capture the Americanscene better than the European-schooled genius whomade film history in America.

Of all the musicians our generation held in higheresteem than Steiner, one was Bernard Hermann. Hescored many of the great movies directed by AlfredHitchcock. His scary and stomach-churning score forPsycho is known as the most horrifying introductionto murder and mayhem in screen history.

When my generation attended a good movie, wewent away knowing a little bit more each time aboutthe making of movies than we could have learned ina college film class. We responded both individuallyand as a group to the communication made from thesilver screen, and we carried some of the best that it

gave to the audience throughout our own lives.Today, we are, very possibly, more capable of

evaluating the works of modern directors and screen-writers, not so much by comparisons, but through themovement of the inner powers and drives of a con-stant and ever-changing world where entertainmenthas become rather reckless, violent, colorless, andless creative.

The accessibility of multiple theatres and the con-stant changing taste of the public require a demandfor many movies per week.

Many of these movies are made rather quickly andhurried into the American malls for quick profits. Theyhave become the Wally World of gliding and pressingfor more, and more, and more, until, finally, the slash-ing, dabbing, flickering, and countless movie releaseshave lost their integrity and are easily forgotten.

The frogs all returned to the localbranches last week and the annualflight of the geese passing throughcame in the middle of the week.

Speaking of warmer day, lawnmowing time is nigh at hand. It is justa matter of days until the Barker
