Ronald McDonald House New York provides a“Home-Away-From-Home” for pediatric cancerpatients and their families.

When you pull for the House, you expand public awareness, make new friends, raise money, and protect the environment!

What: Pop Tab Palooza is Ronald McDonald House New York’s first major pop tab community collection day. The Collection Site will be at our 8th annual Block Party on 73rd Street between 1st and York avenue from 11 am 5 pm.

The Block Party is part street fair, part festival and is an incredibly lively celebration for the entire family. The day will consist of great food, music, craft and activity booths, toy and houseware sales, carnival games, rides, and much more!

Why: The pop tab program is an easy and simple way to make a genuine difference. Collecting pop tabs is great for kids and adults of all ages.

100% of the proceeds recived through recycling the pop tabs goes directly to Ronald McDonald House New York to help provide a “Home-Away-From-Home” for pediatric cancer patients and their families.

There is a hot meal nearly every nightso that families can come back after

a long day and not worry about what to eat. We also provide a 24/7

“Parents’ Pantry”! over 500 programs are organizedevery year, for all ages and interests. These help keep normalcy, create memories, and encourages psycho-social benefits.

The Parent-to-Parent and Child-to-Child relationships that are built at the House help those in coping with diagnosis and treatment, letting them know that theyare not alone.

ComfortThe House offers 84 rooms equipped

with tempur pedic beds, hospitality TVpackage, Wi-fi, and more. Our Common

Areas include the living room, kitchens, dining room, and living room.

First Time families are greeted every day by our Navigation Coordinator who helps them acclimate to the House, Hospital, and City.

Ronald McDonald House New York is a temporary “Home-Away-from-Home” for pediatric cancer patients and their families. The House is a supportive and caring environment which offers muchmore to families than just a place to sleep.

Keeping families together has been our mission since 1978. Offering an affordable lodging alternative to the expensive hotels in New York as well as our proximity to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has allowed us to provide families a place of respite and relaxationafter long days of treatment.

When parents are able to stay close they are better equipped to handle the medical needs oftheir child. Children heal quicker and maintain positive attitudes when family is around them.

Make your Pop Tab Container You can use all different materials to make you pop tab container. Some reccomendations include larger plastic bottles, large coffee containers, or plastic buckets. Use our template to wrap it up or make your own! You can also request small or large Ronald McDOnald House conatiners by emailing us today!

Begin popping your tabs! Every tab helps and a little can go a long way.

Are you a school representative or Youth group Advisor? Starting a pop tab program with your group is a great way to make a difference and teach younger generations about the benefits of philanthapy and giving back to the community. You can schedule to have a speaker come in and talk more about the house and the programas well as receive other helpful materials from us to make your collection the best yet.

Organizing a Collection at the office? Another great way to collect pop tabs is in the office, placing a container in the breakroomis a perfect spot to grab attention. We suggest informing everyone about recycling theirpop tabs for Ronald McDonald House and what we do! Maybe even make it a competition between departments?

- We recieve the going rate for aluminum through our partnering recycling company. Rates vary from 23-52 cents per pound.

Why do you only collect the tabs from cans?Although the entire aluminum can is valuable, the tab itself is much cleaner and easier to collect in large quantities than whole cans. The tab of a standard soda can is made of high quality, high grade aluminum. By itself, it doesn’t mean much, but when we pull together, pop tabs add up and become a valuable donation to Ronald McDonald House New York.

we stongly encourage everyone to recycle the entire can, you can even donate the money to Ronald McDonald House New York to make an even bigger impact!

Who can participate in the pop tab program? Anyone is welcome and encouraged to participate! They are a common item seen virtually everyday, easy to store and collect- making this a kid friendly community service project as well. A pop tab collection is a terrific program for schools and other youth groups to get involved and make a genuine contribution to their community. Offices, church groups, hospitals, grocery stores, and other clubs also find this program to be ideal and easy to set up.

How do I get started?Simply start collecting; You can use anything to collect the tabs (shoeboxes, milk cartons etc).
