Hello! This is the second FAQ that I am publishing to GameFAQs (and to anyother sites whom have received my permission to use this FAQ). I have been

  • 8/14/2019 Pokemon Diamond 2

    6/211

super enthusiastic about the new Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games thatwere released in Japan recently since the day they came out. I have beenworking dilligently on trying to acquire as much information as possible aboutthe two games, and now, I have decided that it is time to work on writing agood Walkthrough for the two games.

Now that the games are released in English, I will be going through and tryingto localize all of the names and stuff to keep them current with the English

version, instead of the Japanese version. I may miss a few things here andthere, so if you see a funny name that doesn't sound familiar, it means I justmissed it while going through and changing things.

THIS IS NOT A SPOILER-FREE WALKTHROUGH! In fact, this Walkthrough will have asmany spoilers as possible!

You will not find any pictures (for obvious reasons) or stats on the Pokemonin this guide.

For pictures of the new Pokemon, you can check out:http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond_pearl/new_pictures/

Also, since making a text-based Pokedex out of my existing Pokedex just isn'ttime-sensible, you can view my D/P Pokedex on my site, at the following page:http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond_pearl/pokedex/

And since I'm already going link crazy, a video walkthrough - for those of youthat like seeing stuff in action - is being worked on, as are tutorials on howto catch certain Pokemon or do certain things. Check 'em out here:http://pokemon.marriland.com/diamond_pearl/videos/

Lastly, a stylized Walkthrough, written by me and improved from this one, canbe found here:http://www.mycheats.com/view/superguide/17032/pokemon_diamond_pearl_/

With that being said, please do enjoy the Walkthrough I have written. I hopeit helps you out through the game, or, if you do not own the game and merelywish to take a peek at what the game is all about!

Also, please do keep in mind that this guide was written for Pokemon Diamond. The only real differences that you will find in this guide if you're playingPokemon Pearl is that the wild Pokemon in some areas may be different, andyou will catch Palkia instead of Dialga. I will eventually make the guidefully compatible with Pearl and point out all of the differences, but for nowjust bear with me.

    ,~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~.( s2. VERSION HISTORY | :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: )

    `~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~'~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

Version 2.50 (5/12/07 - 654KB)- I added completely accurate attacks for each and every Pokemon for eachGym Leader, Commander, and other big battles of importance. Now you willbe able to see exactly what each big foe has in their arsenal!

    - I FIXED MY E-MAIL, PRAISES BE! I'm really sorry about my e-mail beingdown for, like, almost 2 weeks. There was some wacky setting in my site'sconfiguration that I didn't have a clue about, but I finally figured itout, woohoo! If you tried to send a message and got some freaky 550 relaynot permitted message, you can now send your message to me and I should

Version 1.30 (3/19/07 - 553KB)- Replaced ALL of the Pokemon names with their confirmed English names.- Updated some other names, such as Team Galaxy to Team Galactic, thePoke Watch to the Poketch, and probably another here and there.

    - Corrected Heatran's attack list. It has Scary Face, not Mean Look.- Made a lot of miscellaneous updates to various sections while I wentthrough the list.

    - Fixed various typoes.- Added some new questions to the Frequently Asked Questions section.- Finally added a list of where you can find every single Pokemon for yourSinnoh Dex! This can be found in section 8.6.! Right now, it just showsthe locations of the Pokemon for Trainers, but I might later extend itto show where you can actually catch the Pokemon.

    - Also added a English / Japanese name conversion section so you can seeboth the English and Japanese names for each Pokemon to help avoid someconfusion while you adjust to the English names.

    - Changed nearly all of the wild Pokemon encounter tables so they show anaccurate percentage of encounter instead of just an estimated rarity. Itonly shows the frequency for encountering Pokemon in the daytime for now, although future updates should have the other two times as well, in

addition to Surfing encounters and the encounter rates for all three ofthe Rods.

Version 1.00 (1/16/07 - 528KB)- Yes, after over two months, I finally have an update - one that I deem"completes" the Walkthrough.

    - The entire Northeast Island section has been added and covered (sections6.3.1. to 6.3.11.).

    - Updated sections 7.4. (Pokemon Mansion & Proud Garden) and 7.6. (SafariZone) to include a little information about there being more Pokemon thatyou can catch after obtaining the National Dex. (I still need to add howto get Rotomu to the Forest Manor section, I know.)

    - Added some info on the Pokemon Super Contests.

    - Updated the lists of locations and items to reflect the new additions.- Made a whole ton of assorted other updates over the past two months thatI can't really remember them all.

    - DIAMOND AND PEARL WILL BE RELEASED IN THE USA ON APRIL 22nd, 2007!!- Changed some of the names to reflect the revealed English names.Professor Nanakamado to Professor Rowan, Futaba Town to Twinleaf Town, and Perap to Chatot.

    - Fixed several typoes (calling Rock Climb "Rock Slide" NUMEROUS timesthroughout the walkthrough ... shame on me!)

    - Probably other stuff I'm forgetting that you'll just have to hunt down!

Version 0.95 (11/8/06 - 460KB)- Did some reorganizing of the different sections, now dedicating section

    6. to Post-Game, section 7. to Optional Areas, section 8. to UsefulLists, and the sections afterward have just been post-incremented by 2 toreflect the new additions.

    - Added many of the Post-Game events, covering sections 6.1. to 6.5. andall subsections, except for 6.3. Still have a lot of Post-Game stuff towrite about, though...

    - Most likely going to merge Post-Game and Optional Areas into one sectionlater on, since several of the Optional Areas are much, much moreinteresting after completing the game and unlocking the National Dex,however they aren't exactly Post-Game because you can access them earlyon. Hmm, decisions, decisions...

  • 8/14/2019 Pokemon Diamond 2

    9/211

    - Added the Useful Lists section which has an easy to read listing of allof the Held Items, Key Items, TMs/HMs, Poketch Applications, andimportant places and people. Hopefully this will help answer everyone'squestions before they are asked, plus it saves you the time of having towade through the Walkthrough to find what you are looking for.

    - Fixed a few typoes here and there.- I feel so sad only adding .05 to the version number after adding almost100KB of content. Ugh. I'm going to mark this as "complete" and make it

version 1.00 in the next update, where I cover the northeast island.

Version 0.90 (10/30/06 - 370KB)- Covered sections 5.9.1. (Route 223) through 5.9.3. (The Pokemon League).Doesn't seem like a lot, but it really was.

    - Also added section 5.9.0. to list all of the optional areas you canrevisit now that you can use Waterfall.

    - Added Route 210 to the list of locations that you can visit after you canuse Rock Climb (see section 5.8.0.).

    - The Walkthrough now covers from the beginning of the game to the end! Notgoing to mark it as complete just yet, though. I'm going to add all ofthe Post-Game events first.

    - Renamed section 2. to "Version History & Future Updates" so I can put all

of the updates I have planned for this Walkthrough in here as well.- Added two more credits to section 9.- Oops, I realized I forgot to update the version number in the lastupdate, ha ha ha, silly me, I knew that would happen eventually.

Version 0.80 (10/25/06 - 331KB)- Covered sections 5.8.1. (Mio City) through 5.8.14. (Nagisa Gym). Thistook close to forever due to all of the events that happen in this partof the game.

    - Added Cave of Doubt (Secret Area) to the Optional Areas (section 6.8.).- Added a ASCII-rendition of the World Map to the Translation Guide (insection 4.).

    - Fixed numerous things throughout the Walkthrough based on information

that was either sent in via e-mail or checked on my Pearl version'splaythrough.

    - Did some slight graphical updates on the Walkthrough, changing thesection headers and such to a new look.

    - Added another site to the list of sites able to use this Walkthrough.- Ran out of time to add more questions to the Frequently Asked Questionssection of this guide. Oh well, I'll try do that in the next update.

    - Added two new bits to the Credits section.

Version 0.70 (10/18/06 - 262KB)- Covered sections 5.7.1. (Tengan Mountain) through 5.7.6. (Kissaki Gym).- Renamed "Royal Relic" to "Tengan Mountain" to help avoid confusion andremain more consistant in the recognized names for things.

    - Added Route 211 (West) to section 5.2. as 5.2.13., and reordered HakutaiGym as 5.2.14.

    - Added a bit about the Ruin Maniac's Grotto in Route 214 (section 5.5.4.).

Version 0.60 (10/17/06 - 238KB)- Covered sections 5.6.1. (Route 218) through 5.6.3. (Mio Gym).- Added Steel Island to the Optional Areas (section 6.7.).- Finally designed an AWESOME logo for the Walkthrough in ASCII! Woohoo!- Fixed, like, one or two typoes.

    Version 0.50 (10/16/06 - 216KB)

  • 8/14/2019 Pokemon Diamond 2

    10/211

    - Covered sections 5.5.1. (Nomose City) through 5.5.9. (Yosuga Gym). Alsocovered all of the optional things you can do after you can use Surf insection 5.6.0.

    - Added Tatara Ironworks to the Optional Areas (section 6.6.).- Added the location of some items, as well as Pokemon to catch to oldersections that I missed before.

    - Fixed the location of the Move Relearner.- Fixed a lot of typoes. I am ALWAYS getting Kotobuki and Kurogane City

mixed up. Argh!- Also added ASCII for the Japanese "Yes" and "No" to the Translationsection.

    - Decided to up the version number a whole .2 points instead of .1 due tothe fact that I've gotta be at least half way through, plus a lot ofextra areas are covered. 0.40 just didn't seem to do it justice.

Version 0.30 (10/15/06 - 166KB)- Covered sections 5.4.1. (Tobari City) through 5.4.5. (Nomose Gym).- Replaced section 5.A. with 5.4., since that is where you're supposed togo (as I thought). The Pokemon Mansion and Proud Garden sections havebeen moved to the Optional Areas (section 6.4.).

    - Added the Zui Ruins, Pokemon Mansion and Proud Garden, and the Safari

Zone to the Optional Areas.- Included where to get the Raising Checker Poketch Application in theZui Town section, as a note. (You get it after hatching 5 Eggs.)

    - Fixed a few more typoes.- Added another Frequently Asked Question.

Version 0.20 (10/11/06 - 147KB)- Covered sections 5.3.10. (Lost Tower) through 5.3.15. (Tobari Gym).- I can't believe it took me two days just to get from one town to another.I guess it makes sense seeing as I'm a total information geek and have toexplore every single area before I progress to the next one. I mean, myplay time was at 27:00+ when I got my third badge, ugh! Enough ranting!

    - Fixed Hyouta's gender... Sorry, but he looked like a girl. Now he's just

one of many feminine men in Pokemon... with a hardhat!- Updated a few things earlier in the FAQ. Also changed 5.3.10. from ZuiTown to the Lost Tower and changed Zui Town to 5.3.11., because you cango to the Tower that early and you might as well pick up HM04 while youare in the area rather than forget later.

    - Added another question to the Frequently Asked Questions.

Version 0.13 (10/9/06 - 111KB)- Covered sections 5.3.1 (Hakutai City) through 5.3.9 (Route 209).- Added the Optional Areas section along with the optional areas "Forest

Manor" and "Cave of Doubt", both of which seem to be optional at thispoint.

    - Fixed a few minor errors throughout the guide. (I mean, come on, it said

that Version 0.10 was made in 10/4/05, haha! My bad!)- Added a link to the pictures and Pokedex, since a lot of people want to

see that stuff anyway.- Added some commonly asked questions to the Frequently Asked Questions

section.- Allowed two new sites usage of using this FAQ.

Version 0.10 (10/7/06)- Initial release of the Walkthrough. Setting version # at 0.10 since I am,

by my estimations, roughly 10% through writing the Walkthrough part.- Only the Walkthrough is available for the time being. Other sections will

  • 8/14/2019 Pokemon Diamond 2

    11/211

follow in later releases.- Covered sections 5.1.1 (Twinleaf Town) through 5.2.13 (Hakutai City Gym).

the news article will then end, and you will have control over your character.Notice the Wii in your room. Game Freak and Nintendo are such teases! Proceedto head down the stairs where you will be greeted by your Mother. She willinstruct you to go and see Rival. On your way out, she'll say something else.Leave the house and make your way to the northeastern-most house and Rivalwill pop out of the door. He'll start to run off, but must have forgottensomething as he heads back inside. Go in after him, heading up to the secondfloor, and he'll leave.

Go north, up to Route 201, and you'll find Rival. He'll talk about the RedGyarados on TV and will follow you. Take him over to the west (you can't goeast yet), in to the forest. If you want to save before picking your starterPokemon (for trying to get a certain gender, positive stats, shiny, etc), doso before entering the forest.

Inside of the forest, by the lake, you will see Professor Rowan and Dawn. After some dialogue between them, they'll notice the two of you, and will thenleave. However, the Professor forgot his suitcase, as you and Rival quicklydiscover. As you approach it, though, you are attacked by some wild Pokemon!

Now is the time that you'll be able to choose your Starting Pokemon, so choose

    wisely!

    .----------------------------.| TURTWIG (Turtle) GRASS |'--.-------------------------`._________________________________

    | Turtwig, the Turtle Pokemon, is a pretty solid choice. It || has great Defense and Attack, although it is pretty slow. || Fortunately, it will be able to take hits throughout the || game, which is a good thing. It learns Razor Leaf pretty || early on, too, giving it a nice offensive attack. Later || on, Turtwig will eventually evolve into Grotle, followed || by Torterra, which is Grass / Ground and capable of || unleashing Earthquake. |

    .----------------------------.__________________________________|| CHIMCHAR (Monkey) FIRE |'--.-------------------------`._________________________________

    | Chimchar, the Monkey Pokemon, is all about doing damage. || It learns a wide variety of various Physical-based attacks || and it has the Attack stat to use them fairly well. || Although it may have difficulty with the first Gym, it || will prove to be a strong fighter during the rest of your || journey. When Chimchar evolves into Monferno at Level 14, || it will become part Fighting-type as well and will start || learning Fighting-type moves to utilize its second type. || Its final form, Infernape, is also part Fighting-type, and || is also quite fast to boot. |

    .----------------------------.__________________________________|| PIPLUP (Penguin) WATER |'--.-------------------------`._________________________________

    | Piplup, the Penguin Pokemon, is, unfortunately, not that || great early on in the game. It doesn't learn any strong || moves until Bubblebeam, which is Level 24 at it's second || stage. However, its forms have good Special Attack, and || its final Evolution, Empoleon, is part Metal-type, making || it resistant to most any attacks. ||____________________________________________________________|

You will have to fight against a Level 2 Starly. Just keep using yourPokemon's first attack and you will win. Rival will take the Pokemon that youare weak to.

Afterward, Dawn will return and take back the suitcase. Leave the forest, andthen you and Rival will run into Dawn and the Professor again. He will noticethat the two Pokemon that are missing, but will then leave and Dawn willfollow, telling you to come to the lab in Sandgem Town. You will then be taken

back home, and your Mother will tell you to go to Sandgem Town, followed bygiving you the Running Shoes. throughout Sinnoh and catalog information on the different Pokemon in it. Sayyes, and you will receive the Pokedex. After some more dialogue, Dawn willreceive the remaining starter Pokemon.

Leave the building, and then Dawn will take you around the town, showing youthe different features (such as the Pokemon Center and Poke Mart). She'll thenhead north, up to Route 202, and won't let you pass.

Cherubi is pretty easy. You should be able to take it out with littledifficulty.

Turtwig knows Reflect, which will half the effectiveness of your Physical-based attacks for 5 turns. Plus, it has pretty high Defense.

Her Roserade is quite tricky to beat, though, because it's both strong and ata high level. I had my Onix use Screech against it until it was Knocked Outwith Magical Leaf (and the Reflect wore off). Roserade likes to start out byParalyzing things with Stun Spore, so watch out and administer Parlyz Heals orCheri Berries as required.

After beating her, you will receive the Forest Badge, which lets you use Cutoutside of battle, and makes it so traded Pokemon up to Level 30 will obeyyou. She'll also give you another present, TM86 (Grass Knot). Woohoo!

Before entering, I strongly recommend stocking up on at least 30 Ultra Balls(or, if you are playing at night, buy Dusk Balls instead). You will be able tocatch a Legendary Pokemon very soon, so you will need them!

Inside of the south side of Mt. Coronet (by Route 208), use Surf to cross thenorthern body of water and then use Rock Climb to climb the rocks.

Upstairs, you can find a Max Potion on your way to the west up the stairs, along with an Ether in the nearby rock. An Escape Rope is on the very south

side of the continued path, although you'll want to take the stairs going uponto the elevated area. There's an exit in the southwest corner of the roomthat will take you outside to the west side of Route 207, where you can useRock Climb to access an Iron. TM80 (Rock Slide) can be found by crossing thebridge, then taking the southernly route to reach it. A Revive can be found bytaking the northern route instead.

Near the very back of the cave, you'll find an opening in the wall (however,if you have not done the events in the Veilstone Galactic Building and arecoming here for loot immediately after getting Rock Climb, this opening willbe sealed with depictions of the Legendary Trio, similar to the gate in

Rival's team of Pokemon is quite diverse at this point. He will try to use alot of type-matching against you, so the order that he sends out his Pokemon

in depends on what Pokemon you are using. The best advice that I can give isjust try to type-match his Pokemon and send out Pokemon that are effectiveagainst his. If you can't do that, then try to use your strongest attacks. Hisstarter Pokemon is more than likely your biggest threat, due to its high statsand level.

After beating him, he will run off again. Now, all that's left is for you totalk to the person in front of the door. Do so, and he will check to make surethat you have each of the Gym Badges. Since at this point, you obviously do,he will step aside and let you take on the Elite Four.__________________________________

is a hard type to find a weakness too. Ground-type attacks are really youronly option if you want to do the most damage. Otherwise, just whittle away atits HP with your strongest attacks.

Heracross has a lot of offense, similar to Rival's. It knows Infighting andMega Horn, both of which are very strong attacks and will do a lot of damageto anything it hits. It also has Stone Edge in its roster of moves to helpcombat Flying-type Pokemon. However, fortunately Heracross is pretty slow, and

it's also 4x weak to Flying, so even a weak Flying-type attack like Aerial Acewill be more than enough to knock it out.

Vespiquen is very sturdy. It has high defenses and decent HP, so it's a bittricky to take down. One good Rock-type attack will rip it apart, though, butif you don't have one at your disposal, strike it with Electric-, Ice-, orFlying-type attacks to deal the most damage.

After Aaron comes Bertha, the master of Ground-type Pokemon. She also bears astriking resemblance to Agatha from the Elite Four of Kanto, doesn't she? Ifyou have a Grass-type Pokemon, send it to the front of your party now._______________|.~~~~~~~~~~~~~.\________________,-----.,

Grass-type attacks will make fodder out of it, though.

Hippowdon's Ability will summon forth a Sandstorm when its sent out, so you'llhave to face the whipping sand regardless of whether Quagsire can pull it offor not. Hit it with your strongest Grass- or Water-type attack to put it outcold.

Golem has very high Defense, but it is also 4x weak to both Water- and Grass-

type attacks, so using them will knock it out almost positively. Fighting-typeattacks are super effective against it, but its high Defense might preventthem from knocking it out with one shot. It's very slow, though, but has highAttack and, as I've already said, high Defense.

Whiscash is also super-weak to Grass-type attacks. Fortunately, it doesn'thave Water Absorb, so if you're running through Kikuno's Pokemon with a Water-type and don't want to switch, you won't have to, although it will probablytake you two hits to knock it out.

Sudowoodo is really a push over. It has strong attacks, but it's slow and weakto the same types as the rest of her Pokemon. It should be an easy knockoutunless you don't have any of those types.

Next up comes the third member of the Elite Four, Flint, whom you've seenearlier in Sunyshore City. He uses Fire-type Pokemon, although really his teamis pretty diverse (due to the lack of Fire-type Pokemon in Sinnoh), so beready to take on a variety of types._______________|.~~~~~~~~~~~~~.\________________,-----.,|| BOSS BATTLE `~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| $7320 |\|\ Elite Four Flint '._____.'|`*\==============v===========v=====v===/#||*| Rapidash | FIR | L58 | M |#||*|--------------^MOVES:-----^-----^---|#||*| [ Flare Blitz ] [ SolarBeam ] |#|

Rapidash is very quick and can be pretty powerful, so try and douse its firewith whatever attacks you can throw at it. Its defenses are pretty shaky, though, so one good hit and its gone.

Infernape is the monster of his team, possessing very powerful moves and highattack stats to use them. Flare Blitz, a Fire-type Double-Edge move (120 basepower), will do a considerable amount of damage to anything it hits. It alsohas Mach Punch to get a jump on your faster Pokemon. Flying- or Water-typePokemon are most effective against it, although it has Thunderpunch, so makesure that it can take the hit. Also try to avoid using your Rock-type Pokemonhere.

Steelix has massive Defense, as always, but it's slow as tar and is very weakto Water- or Fire-type attacks. If you have any Special-based Fighting- orGround-type attacks, those will be effective as well, although its Defensewill prevent any Physical-based ones from being very potent.

Drifblim has great HP, and it also knows Baton Pass, although it never seemedto do anything more than provide a slight annoyance against me.

His Lopunny has Mirror Coat, which will counter any of your Special-basedattacks, so try and use Physical-based attacks against it unless you want torisk getting knocked out.

Once you've beaten Flint, only one more Elite Four member will be remaining:Lucian. Lucian uses strong Psychic-type Pokemon. He'll start off with a Mr.Mime, so try and start with a Dark- or Ghost-type Pokemon or a Pokemon with aDark-type attack (like Crunch or Dark Pulse)._______________|.~~~~~~~~~~~~~.\________________,-----.,

There aren't a lot of common weaknesses is Cynthia's team. Her Spiritombdoesn't have any weaknesses, actually, so don't worry so much about whatPokemon you start with in this fight. With its high Defense and SpecialDefense and total lack of weakness, Spiritomb will likely take a few goodshots to take down. Its offenses aren't that great, though, so at least youshouldn't be too threatened.

Gastrodon's only real weakness is Grass-type attacks, so if you don't have anyof those, try to rely on using your strongest Physical-based attacks againstit, because it has lower Defense than it does Special Defense. Be careful, though, because it has strong moves such as Earthquake, Stone Edge, MuddyWater, and even Sludge Bomb.

Her Milotic can be a real pain to take down. It's weak to Electric- and Grass-type attacks, although it has the HP and defenses to take a good hit from oneof them and still survive. Avoid inflicting it with a status ailment, though, because otherwise its Marvel Scale Ability will kick in and raise its Defenseby 1.5x. It also has Mirror Coat, which is nasty if you use a Special-basedattack against it, because it will inflict double that damage back to you

(unless you knock it out, of course). Avoid using them if you can.

Garchomp is a fierce Dragon/Ground-type Pokemon with high Attack and Speed. Italso has nice HP, as well as decent defenses, making it quite hardy and achallenge to take down. It can use Dragon Rush, an extremely powerful Dragon-type attack; Earthquake, which is just plain nasty and it gets the Same TypeAttack Bonus, making it really deadly; Giga Impact, which is like a beefed upHyper Beam; and Brick Break for a nice, solid Fighting-type attack. Your bestbet against it is a strong Ice-type attack (beware Brick Break, though!) or aDragon-type attack of your own, although otherwise just strike it with yourstrongest attacks and try to keep your HP as high as possible.

Lucario, which you probably haven't fought against since your fight withMaylene, is a difficult Pokemon to take down due to its great types. Fighting-,Ground-, and Fire-type attacks are awesome against Lucario, but nearlyeverything else is really quite ineffective. It knows Dragon Pulse,Earthquake, Psychic, and Aura Sphere, giving it a very large array of powerfulattacks. It also has high Attack and Special Attack, as well as good Speed, but fortunately its defensive stats aren't so hot. Use that to your advantage.

Her Roserade shouldn't be quite as difficult compared to the rest of herPokemon, but it's still a formidable foe. It boasts very high Special Attackand quite high Special Defense, and its Speed isn't half bad either. It canuse Sludge Bomb, which will put a serious dent in your Pokemon's HP. Steel-type Pokemon are amazing to use against Roserade.

After beating all six of Cynthia's Pokemon, she will tell you to climb theplatform up. Do so, and you'll be taken through the door. Inside, Cynthia willlead you to where you register yourself and your Pokemon as the new PokemonLeague Champions. Professor Rowan will also join you and congratulate you onyour accomplishment.

Congratulations! You are the new Pokemon League Champion!!

then check out section 6.1. to see what to do to get the National Dex.

After your first time beating the Elite Four and the League Champion, you willawaken in your room when you load your game (actually, you'll appear here anytime after beating the Elite Four). Go down the stairs, and your mother willcome over to tell you that Rival took a ship in Snowpoint City. Hmm,interesting? But, not for now. Right now, you should have thing on your mind:

    the National Dex!

In order to get the National Dex, you will need to have seen the 150 Pokemonin the Sinnoh Dex. All of these Pokemon can be found throughout the course ofnormal gameplay provided you have fought most of the Trainers in the game.Remember, you don't need to have caught the Pokemon - merely seeing it willdo. At this point, assuming that you have battles every Trainer in the game sofar and haven't done any outside trades, you should have a hardy 149 Pokemonin your Pokedex. If not, check out section 8.6. of this Walkthrough for alist of where to see every single Pokemon you need to complete the Sinnoh Dex.

Chances are there's one Pokemon that you'll be missing, which is either #149or #150, depending on which version you have. To see this Pokemon for yourSinnoh Dex, return to Celestic Town.____________________________________________________________________________(_| s6.1.2. Celestic Town |__________________________________________________)

Unless you have done some trading, you haven't seen Palkia or Dialga(depending on your version; Palkia in Diamond) yet. You'll need to see the

other game's legendary in order to complete your Pokedex. Now, although thePokemon cannot be caught or encountered in your game, the old lady that youmet in Celestic Town during your last visit here has a picture of that Pokemonto help complete your Pokedex.

You can find the old lady in the large house on the north side of town. Talkto her, and she will show you the picture, counting toward seeing the Pokemonfor the sake of your Pokedex. She'll actually show you this picture wheneveryou talk to her after you see either Dialga or Palkia at the Spear Pillar, butnow is probably the best time to talk to her about it.____________________________________________________________________________(_| s6.1.3. Sandgem Town |___________________________________________________)

Back in Sandgem Town, talk to Professor Rowan inside of his lab aftercompleting the Sinnoh Pokedex, and he will be amazed that you have seen all150 Pokemon on the Sinnoh Dex. Just then, Professor Oak will stop in, do somechit-chatting, and then power up your Pokedex, upgrading it so it has NationalDex capabilities.

After Professor Oak leaves, Rowan will give you the Poke Radar. The Poke Radaris a useful gadget that you can use in any field on the world map to helplocate wild Pokemon, including Pokemon that you haven't yet encountered orwouldn't normally be in the area without using the Poke Radar.

To use the Poker Rdar, enter a field of grass (without riding the Bicycle) anduse the Poke Radar. Some of the grass will then start to shake, and some will

show signs of rustling in it (by flashing, kind of). Walking into either ofthese patches will trigger a fight against a wild Pokemon, possibly a Pokemonnew to the area, although walking into the rustling grass will have a higherchance of encountering better Pokemon. If you defeat the Pokemon or captureit, there will be more rustling grass outside of the battle, up to 2additional times after first using the Poke Radar. Running away from a fightwill not allow you to encounter any more shaking grass without using the PokeRadar again. Like the Vs. Seeker, the Poke Radar requires you to take acertain amount of steps before you can use it again, although it's only 50steps instead of 100.

Apparently you can use the Poke Radar to help you locate exceedingly rare"Shiny" Pokemon. Very, very rarely, a patch of grass may turn white and glow

red, to purple, to blue. I have not personally seen this, although I haveheard about this.

Corona Genesis said this about finding Shiny Pokemon with the Poke Radar:

"The patch was mostly white, and it had red which changed topurple and blue glowing from inside it. I was incredibly annoyedwhen I realized I couldn't get to it. I hope someone elseencounters one and confirms what it is."

If you run into a situation like that, everyone seems to agree that using a

  • 8/14/2019 Pokemon Diamond 2

    128/211

Repel is the best thing you can do, so then you won't encounter any wildPokemon other than the ones with the Poke Radar.

Now that you have the National Dex, loads of new locations and adventures willbecome available to you. You can take them on in any order, unless I sayotherwise.

As far as I can tell, all Pokemon listed here have an 8% chance of beingencountered, unless it says 4%. These Pokemon will be at the same levels asthe other Pokemon in the area - the exception being in the Northeast Island, where they'll be at the lower levels (22, 25, 27, 29, etc.).

After obtaining the National Dex, you may be able to encounter even morePokemon to catch in the Sinnoh region.

Every day, the swarming Pokemon will change. You can find out what Pokemon isswarming - along with its location - by talking to Dawn's little sister in herhouse in Sandgem Town. Again, you can do this once per day.

All Pokemon listed here have a 40% chance of being encountered, but only while

they are swarming in the area.
