Eternity by William Blake

He who binds to himself a joy Does the winged life destroyHe who kisses the joy as it fliesLives in eternity’s sunrise

First Fig by Edna St Vincent

My candle burns at both ends;

It will not last the night;

But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends—

It gives a lovely light!

To see a World...by William Blake

To see a World in a Grain of SandAnd a Heaven in a Wild Flower,Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour.

Songs of Myself by Walt Whitman

I too am not a bit tamed,

I too am untranslatable,I sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:Its loveliness increases; it will neverPass into nothingness; but still will keepA bower quiet for us, and a sleepFull of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.

LeisureWhat is this life if, full of care,We have no time to stand and stare?

No time to stand beneath the boughs,And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth canEnrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,We have no time to stand and stare.

If I can stop one heart… by Emily Dickinson

If I can stop one heart from breaking,I shall not live in vain;

If I can ease one life the aching,Or cool one pain,

Or help one fainting robin Into his nest again

I shall not live in vain.

No man is an island,Entire of itself,Every man is a piece of the continent,A part of the main.If a clod be washed away by the sea,Europe is the less.As well as if a promontory were.As well as if a manor of thy friend'sOr of thine own were:Any man's death diminishes me,Because I am involved in mankind,And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.By John Donne

Some socks are loners –

They can’t live in pairs.

On washdays they’ve shown us

They want to be loners.

They puzzle their owners,

They hide in dark lairs.

Some socks are loners –

They won’t live in pairs.

The Leader

I wanna be the leader

I wanna be the leader

Can I be the leader?

Can I? I can?

Promise? Promise?

Yippee I'm the leader

I'm the leader.

OK what shall we do?

Alligator by Grace Nicholls

If you want to see an alligator you must go down the muddy slushy end of the old Caroony River. I know an alligator who’s living down there. She’s a-big. She’s a-mean. She’s a-wild. She’s a-fierce. But if you really want to see an alligator you must go down to the muddy slushy end of the old Caroony River. Go down gently to that river and say ‘Alligator Mama Alligator Mama Alligator Mamaaaaaaa.’ And up she’ll rise but don’t stick around RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

Give yourself a hug,

When you feel unloved.

Give yourself a hug,

When people put on airs to make you feel a bug.

Give yourself a hug,

When everyone seems to give you a cold shoulder shrug.

Give yourself a hug,

A big, big hug,

And keep on singing…

Only one in a million like me,

Only one in a million-billion-thrillion-zillion like me.
