PAGE 2 THE TRIUMPH A PLACE OF HOPE!

Dear Friends, As I sit down to write this newsletter article, my heart is still full from the excitement of God’s blessings upon our car show. I get such a thrill from being a part of sharing the gener-ous love of Christ with our community in a way that makes sense to them. With 181 cars entered, and close to 1,500 total in attendance, we can look up and thank God for His hand of blessing on this effort to reach our community. Please join me now in praying for God to bring a harvest to the hearts of those who came and saw His love. Let’s pray that through the informa-tion given to them about our church, as well as the gospel tracts distributed, that decisions for Christ would be made in God’s time.

This month we’ll have another opportunity to bless our community during our 2nd annual “Trunk or Treat (October 26).” I hope you’ll make plans to decorate your car and distribute candy to our children as we once again show God’s love in a practical way. In a day and age when people are no longer coming to church for answers, we MUST, like Jesus, find ways to go to them. May God gift us with His presence as we undertake being a church with a heart for the lost sheep. May God give us a “whatever it takes” commitment to His great commission as we serve Him in Union and around the world (Matthew 28:18-20). See You Sunday,

Pastor Kevin

What do orange vests, tickets, tires, tongs, and tunes have in common? Not much, unless you throw over a thousand people into the equation and add an amazing group of church volunteers into the middle of the UBC parking lot. This past weekend, we hosted our 4th annual UBC Car Show, aka UBCruzin’, and it was a huge success! We not only had over a 180 registered classic cars, but we also served more than 1,200 hotdogs and hamburgers! God blessed us with radi-ant sunshine and cool breezes sifting through the air, while church members wel-

comed the community into our church. Many conversations were centered around greeting returning guests and making new ac-quaintances, while Pastor Kevin and the Mingle Ministry volunteers took the opportunity to share church information and some gospel tracts with our UBCruzin’ participants and new spectators. While Arnie may have won the Model Car Contest in the Pas-tor’s Division, Will McCabe’s diorama of the “Salvation Salvage” is still being discussed by young and old as a wonderful correla-tion to the salvation message. That’s what UBCruzin’ is all about! Reaching our community and sharing what we know to be true...God made us in His image to be creatures in a relationship with Him and with others. The Outreach Team and the UBCruzin’ Crew Chiefs all wish to thank you for your willingness to devote your time, energy, food, and talents to help make this year’s event one of the largest cruise-ins in Northern Kentucky. Our UBC volunteers have shown we can come together as a great team to share our faith with others. Without volunteers, this type of event could not have been undertaken. We would have never been able to pull together such a variety of unrelated things to touch so many different types of visitors – from classic car owners, to families of the community, to visitors from out-of-town. So, answering the original question of what orange vests, tickets, tires, tongs, and tunes have in common is easy. God can use these things to reach out to others, but He needs us to be willing to step out and be Jesus’ hands and feet in our world. We thank Him for the opportunity to serve.

Bring on the cool weather! It is time to fall (hehe) into the season of hoodie-wearing & pumpkin flavored treats. Hopefully everyone is settled into their school/work schedule. Speaking of schedules, check out what’s coming up in our UBC Student Ministry. Upcoming events:

South Side Fall Festival – Oct. 19 from 9:45 am - 1:30 pm Trunk or Treat – October 26 from 6-8 pm FALL BASH – November 2 from 7-10 pm

South Side Fall Festival We are going back to Southside to help with their annual Fall Festival. If you’d like to join us please sign-up out on the table! Our Church Van is unavailable that day so any adults that could join us, please let Allen know if you can drive your car/van! We need all the vehicles we can get!

Trunk or Treat Plan to come to UBC’s Trunk or Treat. It is October 26 from 6-8 pm at UBC. If you have a car, feel free to decorate it with non-scary decorations. Please encourage your families to participate as well… if you don’t drive, talk your parents into decorating their car! You are welcome to come help even if you aren’t decorating a car. So come and help us reach our community this fall during Trunk or Treat!

FALL BASH We will have our Fall Bash Saturday, No-vember 2 from 7-10 pm at UBC. If you would like to help with food please let Allen know. Remember to invite your friends! This is a great opportunity to reach the students in Northern KY for Christ!

Camp – Summer 2014 I have very exciting news! This coming summer will look a little different when it comes to camp. We have the great opportunity to split camp. The Sr. High students (those having completed grades 9-12) will attend Centrifuge at North Greenville University and the Jr. High students (those having completed grades 6-8) will attend Crossings at Jonathan Creek. Both are wonderful camps. We are very excited to be able to disciple our students more efficiently and effectively by catering to the specific needs that come with these two very different age groups. Dates and prices will be released in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support! Please, be in constant prayer for the work God has planned for our Student Ministry!

In Christ, Allen

Hunger is no respecter of geography or ethnic group. It can be felt in an apart-ment in Eastern Europe, a cardboard shack in Central America, a tent in the Sahara, or a farmhouse in rural America.

Southern Baptist missionaries and volun-teers are offering nourishment for the body and soul. And every Southern Bap-tist can have a part in those ministries through gifts to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund.

While Christ-followers, including Southern Baptists, are doing something about hunger in the U.S. and around the world, we could be doing a lot more. In fact, we can be assured that God expects us to do much more. He expects us to demonstrate an urgency to pray, to give, and to minister on behalf of those who are hungry--both physically and spiritually.

When will you get personal about hunger? If we take God's Word seriously, the malnourished and hun-gry are our problem. Those who are afflicted were made in the image of God. He cares about them, which means we are to care about their welfare as well.

Pick up a ‘bread bank’ to collect your families’ donations.

Banks will be due back on Oct 27th

WORLD HUNGER: It's time to get personal

We will be taking a team back to Haiti December 28, 2013 - January 4, 2014. The team will have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ working among the beautiful people of Haiti. We will be staying at our new Hope for My Sister ministry center and will be involved in a number of activities in the area such as orphan care, women's ministry, preaching/teaching Bible study, teaching women skills such as sewing or cooking, providing medical ministry, doing construction, etc. The things we are able to do depend on the people we end up with on our team. Do you have a special skill that you could use in Haiti? Do you just love the Lord and want to tell others about Him? God can use you!

The estimated total cost for the trip is $1,000. Please prayerfully consider being part of the amazing work God is doing in Haiti. If you are interested in being part of this team, please contact Patricia Goodman at [email protected] or 859-322-8635 for an information packet or for any questions you have. The deadline to sign up is Sunday, September 29.

It’s that time of year again. Time to head for the mountains and receive the biggest blessing of the holiday season! Our annual GAP Christmas trip is scheduled for December 15th—19th. Information sheets will be available from Miss Pat with a break-down of what we will be doing each day. As of this writing, she is still waiting for confirmation on our actual schedule but be-lieves Monday is the day we will need the most help. That is the day the children shop for their parents. Tuesday and Thursday we will work the Distribution Center. Wednesday is Toy Store day! Days will fill quickly so don’t wait to get your name on the list! If you aren’t able to join us on the trip, you can still be part of the trip by joining us in prayer. We are already praying for the people we will come in contact with, for the children we will have the opportunity to work with, that we will have good weather to allow us to do all that God has for us to accomplish, and most importantly, that hearts will be changed. Please see Miss Pat for de-tails and to sign up.

Our toy drive will run November 3 through November 17th. You will have an opportunity to present your gift in either morn-ing service on the 17th or bring it in early and drop it in the barrel. Please remember we are asking for new, un-wrapped toys. The greatest need again this year seems to be for the teens, both boys and girls. As for the “Parent Shop”, we are focusing on gifts for MOM this year., but will gladly accept gifts for Dad as well. Thank you in ad-vance for your generosity!
