VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL REPORT

“Praise the Lord!” Did you hear me? I said “PRAISE THE LORD!!!” What a fantastic week of Vacation Bible School we just had! If you were unable to be part of it, you truly missed a blessing! Let me share some numbers with you:

Total enrollment: 266 Average Attendance: 227

High Attendance Day: Tuesday with 234 present Workers: 67 - 31 of those workers were YOUTH!!!

Total offering: $715.00 (which will be used to buy Christmas toys for GAP)

Best of all: 2 Salvation decisions and 13 kids to follow-up with. Now, can YOU say Praise the Lord?!?! We were blessed with so many things last week it would be impossible to list them all so I‘ll just list a few: God’s presence filling this building, great at-tendance, fantastic workers, very well behaved kids, awesome workers, beautiful weather, fun and fellowship at the picnic on Friday, high energy music with a great message that will be in my brain FOREVER, and the list goes on. Whatever part you played in making this week so wonderful, from your monetary donations, to your prayers, to your assistance each day, to being a runner, to being whatever you were needed to be and serving wherever you were needed, I appreciate you and thank you from the bottom of my heart! Many, many seeds were planted last week and I firmly believe lives, both young and old, were changed for eternity!

Blessings,

Miss Pat

CENTRI-KID 2013 “Out of This World”! That’s the theme for Centri-Kid 2013.

We were blessed with an awesome Centri-Kid staff as well as a pastor that was “out of this world fantastic” to teach us about the trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. What a task, right? Each night of worship was a wonderful experience. Our kids were literally on the edge of their seats, waiting to see what “Capt. Shane” would be teaching them that night. On Tuesday evening, our kids spent an hour at the alter with “Capt. Shane”, the camp pastor, asking questions and just talking. It was truly something to see and experience. We were blessed! The CentriKid staff was made up of a great group of college kids who love the Lord and taught our kids about doing the same. Praise the Lord! That made all the heat, humidity, and sweating worth it! A BIG thank you to Brian Clary, Melanie Pikar for giving of their time to help chaperone the kids and go to camp with us! We shared lots of laughs, many tears, and made lots of memories we’ll hold close forever! So… until next year!

PAGE 2 THE TRIUMPH A PLACE OF HOPE!

Dear Friends, I hope you’ll make every effort to be present with us each Sunday morning for our new sermon series entitled “Witness.” We’ll be studying the early church’s faithfulness and obe-dience to Christ’s command for them to take His good news to “Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).” As we journey together, I’m praying that we’ll be challenged to consider how we as indi-vidual Christ-followers, and as a church body, can become better engaged in this mission given to us from above. Should the Lord return, or we suddenly find ourselves before Him sooner than we expected, may we be found

faithful in the most essential task He has given us – sharing His good news with all the world.

See You Sunday,

Pastor Kevin

PAGE 5 THE TRIUMPH A PLACE OF HOPE!

One of the most exciting things about being a member of Union Baptist Church is our heart for missions. At the time of this writ-ing, there are several things going on in which our members are directly living out the Great Commission. Our youth group and chaperones are at Mission Fuge, which is a week dedicated to active, hands-on ministry. Each MFuge loca-tion offers Children’s Ministry, Games & Recreation, Social Ministry and Painting/Construction/Yardwork; and some locations offer Evangelism, Homeless Ministry, Special Needs Ministry, Peer Ministry and International Ministry. Our students are going out into the community helping in these various ministries and showing God’s love through serving Him in a very real way. Our Haiti team is gearing up for their trip that will be from July 5-13. Please be in prayer for them as they continue to develop the women’s ministry “Hope for My Sister.” They will also be serving in two different medical clinics, helping develop local pastors, teaching sewing to orphans, creating crafts, playing with and loving on children, leading in revival, and other activities. God has com-manded us to go to the uttermost parts of the earth, and Haiti continues to tug at our heartstrings. Our newest ministry, called “Baked Blessings,” community outreach, is taking the time and effort to bake cakes for those who might otherwise not be able to add the delicacy to their celebration. This is a wonderful example of local missions – reaching those around us and sharing how much Jesus loves us! The Racetrack ministry is taking the gospel to the racetracks; sharing God’s love with both fans and drivers and their families. They are giving out copies of God’s word and spreading the gospel through giving out water, toys for the children, and lots o f smiles and hugs. Our outreach team works on consistent basis to develop projects for us to do that will impact our local church and way beyond. They help to plan and carry out our Appalachian projects, pavilion, helping local families with immediate needs, community outreach, etc. And of course, our Harvest of Hope mission is ongoing; serving those in our community who are most in need of both physical and spiritual help. There are many other things going on at Union Baptist Church that are a direct result of our heart for missions. None of these ways to spread God’s love would be possible without the support and participation of our members and friends. For that reason, this month’s UBC VIP is…….YOU!! Please continue to pray for and follow God’s call in participating in these mission endeavors. Most importantly, they need your prayers. They need for you to take part and assist with these activities. And sometimes they may even call on you to donate items, donate your time, or donate financially to make these things happen. Your heart for missions shows your heart for God’s calling. We can’t wait to see what awesome things are ahead.

Susan “Freelancin” Forman

UBC VIPs – UBC on Mission

“Thank you!” I exuded, after receiving a hefty bag of homegrown tomatoes. I set the produce on the kitchen floor; I would attend to it shortly. But I got distracted — for days. Finally, I lifted the bag to make use of the gift, and the bottom fell out. Many of the tomatoes had become squishy, their juices soaking the paper beneath them. Instead of making good use of the generous gift, I was left cleaning up rotten tomatoes and throwing many of the veggies away. We do the same with God’s gifts: “I’ll practice piano tomorrow … next week … next month …” until soon we don’t remember how to play at all. We pass up chances to visit someone dear and, when she moves away, regret squandering the friendship. We opt to sleep in instead of attending worship, unaware of what gifts of God’s Word and Christian fellowship we’ll miss. Next time I receive something — from God or anyone else — may the Spirit help me not just give thanks but live thanks by using and enjoying the gift!

Living thanks

This was reportedly found among the papers of a young African pastor after he was martyred in Zimbabwe:

“My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough and my compan-ions few, but my Guide is reliable and my mission is clear.

“I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed.

“I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, pander at the pool of popularity or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

“I won’t give up, shut up or let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up and spoken up for the cause of Christ.

“I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go until he comes, give until I drop, preach until all know and work until he stops me. And when he does come for his own, he’ll have no problems recognizing me. My banner will be clear!”

My banner is Clear
