The EXPENSIVE approach for a "Do It Yourself" PMP
: Why is it EXPENSIVE for a "Do It Yourself" PMP?

Just calculate the amount of time and money required to prepare for the examination on YOUR own, not to mention about the confusion, fear and apprehension caused by so-called 'experts', who are willing to dole out free advice to you.

Let's calculate the costs to YOU on your solo journey:Study materials: PMBOK Guide = US$ 50 PMP Prep Guides = US$ 100 to US$ 200 PMP Question bank = US$ 200

Time spent: Minimum 250 hours self study. As a PM, your standard hourly billing rate is US$ 150. Assume conservative billing amount at US$ 50 per hour, and only 100 hours of self study (we would be impressed!).

Self study costs = 100 hours * US$ 50 / hour = US$ 5000 Failure in PMP exam = $275 re-exam fee (no GUARANTEES if you are self studying, right!)

Wow! You are willing to spend ATLEAST US$ 6000 just to pass the PMP exam? Look around for a better alternative.

Come to ProXalt. Our GUARANTEED program will help you become a PMP in MUCH less time and money! Visit us at http://www.ProXalt.com, TODAY!Step #What we ask you to doTime requiredHelp

2. Fill Details

Step 1:Enter your Project details and a high level break up of hours under each of the Project Management domains. Use approximate percentages; the system will calculate the actual hours later. In the next step, further decompose the hours under each category (which is color-coded).

Approximate effort spent on these PM Domains#Project NameYour TitleStart Date End Date% PM effective
: What % of Project Manager's time was effective for the given dates on this project? Consider vacation time, holiday, sick leave, etc., when calculating your Total Hours worked.

Calculate as follows: 1 Year = 52 weeks; 1 week = 5 working days; 1 day = 8 hours

Exclude 2 weeks vacation, 2 weeks holidays and about 1 week of sick leave (hence 5 weeks per year)

This leaves about 47 weeks * 5 days * 8 hours = 1880 hours.

Assume a PM is effectively managing a project only about 80% of time (with the remaining for admin work, etc), then 1880 * 80% = 1500 hours approximately per year is what you have spent on the project "managing it".Total Hours
: Calculation:Calculate the number of days between the start and end dates, and account for 5 days a week at 8 hours per day work. Multiply this by PM's effective time spent on the project.Initiating %Planning %Executing %Monitoring & Controlling %Closing %Total %Sample projectProj Lead03-Mar-0309-Aug-0475%22505%20%45%25%5%100%1010%30%20%30%10%100%2015%25%20%30%10%100%3Mahindra & Mahindra - Mobility SolutionsProj Head04-Jan-1027-Apr-10100%64610%30%20%30%10%100%4TATA Power - Mobility SolutionsProj Lead03-May-1007-Aug-10100%54915%30%30%20%5%100%5MORE - Store LocatorProj Lead10-Aug-1018-Nov-10100%57115%30%30%20%5%100%6BOBCARDS - SMS SolutionsProj Lead22-Nov-1004-Mar-11100%58315%25%20%30%10%100%7Kotak ACE - mConnectorProj Lead07-Mar-1129-Jul-11100%82315%30%30%20%5%100%8Axis Securities - mConnectorProj Lead02-Aug-1130-Nov-11100%68620%20%30%25%5%100%9Online Ticketing Tracker SystemProj Head01-Dec-1128-Sep-12100%172620%30%30%15%5%100%10020%30%20%20%10%100%5583155%280%250%240%75%Validation passed?TRUE

Step 2:For each of the Project Management Domains (color-coded below), further decompose the hours by entering approximate % of time you have spent in each of the sub-tasks. ZERO % is acceptable for any sub-task.Once completed, go to the final worksheet "Full PMP App" which shows your assembled application.
