ExecutiveSummaryPMIManausBrazilChapterhasbeendevelopingover12yearsofferingbenefits toourmembersandalsofosteringanddevelopingprojectmanagementculturetoourcommunity.Thepurposeofthis document is to request the PMI’s approval in order to re-charter the PMI Manaus BrazilChapter (PMI-AM) as a chapter with branches and extend our limits to the Legal Amazon Areawhich is officially designated to encompass all seven states of the North Region (Acre, Amapá,Amazonas,Pará,Rondônia,RoraimaandTocantins),aswellaspartofMatoGrossointheCenter-WestRegionandmostofMaranhãointheNortheastRegion.However,sincetoMatoGrossohasaPMIChapterwichextendsupporttoTocantinswithabranchPMIAmazoniaChapterwillhave6of9statesofLegalAmazonArea:Acre,Amapá,Amazonas,Pará,RondôniaandRoraima.It’srelevanttomentionthatthosestatesareverysmallcomparedtotherestothecountry,whichallowsPMIManaus to give support to all of them. To integrate theentire communitywealsowould like tochangetheChapter’snamefromPMIManaus(thecity)BrazilChaptertoPMIAmazonia(thestate)Chapter (PMI Amazonia Chapter) that will provide support to all states in an unique chaptercoveringallBrazilian’sAmazonrainforest.Torepresentthisnewcommunitywealsohavedesigneda new logo that represent our fauna (macaw), flora (Rosewood’s leaf) and people and ProjectManagement&Education(pencil)coexistingtodeveloptheAmazoniaRegion.Thenewlogo:
UntilthismomentourgeographicallimitsisAmazonstateandfromthispointonwewouldliketo provide support in creating awareness of the importance of ProjectManagement to theAmazon Legal area, that is the largest socio-geographic division in Brazil that containing 9states in the Amazon basis, this region was created in 1948 based on studies of BraziliangovernmentonhowtoplantheeconomicandsocialdevelopmentoftheAmazonregion.Ourgoalsare:
• TobringawarenessofPMItoareasandstateswithoutPMKnowledge;• Tofosterprofessionalismintheprojectmanagement;• To create strategic allianceswith companies, universities, educationproviders,NGO,
Federal, State andMunicipalityGovernments to develop the culture and practice ofprojectmanagement;

It is a region of5,016,136.3Km2witharound24millioninhabitants,intheotherwords59%ofBrazilispartofAmazoniaLegalbutonly12,34%oftheBrazilianpopulationlivesthere.TheadministrativeunitwasinitiallyestablishedbyFederalLawNº5173(art.2).

5.3.2 ChapterBoardElectionsTheChapter Board Elections is conducted every three years. The PMIAmazonia president isresponsible for Interviewing and checking eligibility of prospective chapter officers and forreviewingandensuringcomplianceofchapterdocuments.The Chapter Boardmakes the necessary communicationwithmembers and coordinates theballotingprocess.

5.3.5 CommunicationsPMIAmazoniaChapterwillcommunicatewithmembersatleast10timesannuallydeliveringthiscoreservice,includingconsiderationsforthefollowing:
• Newsletters:Thechapternewsletterissentquarterly.It’scontentcontainstechnicalarticles,PMInews,notificationsofupcomingevents(courses,seminarsorcongresses)andthebenefitsofbecomingamemberoracertifiedprofessionalbyPMI.
• Membershipexpiringreminders:Monthly,thememberswhohavetheirmembershipexpiringarenotifiedbyemailsentbytheMembershipDirector.Thisfunctionwillcontinueinthechapterscope,butitwillbetransferredtotheDirectorofOperations.
• Notificationsofupcomingevents:Alleventsarecommunicatedtomemberseverytwoweeksafteritsconfirmation,evenifittheeventinformationwassentinthequarterlynewsletter.
5.3.6 RecognitionEach month the Chapter delivers a online Newsletter for all members and subscribers,containing interviews with credential holders and members and articles about ProjectManagementareasofknowledge.TheNewsletteralsocontainsadvertisingspacesforChaptersponsorsandsupportingfirms.Ifdesired,newmembersarelistedontheNewsletter.

5.3.7 MemberIntroductionandBenefitsPackageNewmembers receive,as soonas theyenroll in theChapter,apersonalizedwelcomee-mailsignedby theChapterPresident, containing informationaboutall thebenefitsPMImembershave, including Leverage PMIMarketing Portal, and inviting them to visit PMI AM website,whereit’spossibletofindfutureChapter’seventsandcheckallthediscountsthatonlyPMIAMmembershave.5.3.8 LeadershipInstituteMeetingAttendanceEvery year theChapter sendsa leader toaPMI Leadership InstituteMeeting (LIM).OnevenyearstheleaderwillattendtotheLATAMLIM,andonoddyearstheleaderwillattendtoanyLIM(EMEA/NorthAmerica/AsiaPac)Chapter’sDirectors,especiallythosewhohaven’thadtheopportunitytoattendpreviousmeetings,willhavethepreferenceonrepresentingtheChapterontheseevents.Ifthereisn’tanyDirectoravailabletoattend,theleaderwillbeselectedbyhisorherparticipationonvolunteeractivities.Andifnooneiseligible,theleaderwillbeselectedbydrawinglots.TheselectedmemberwillbeabletousePMI’stravelgranttocoverpartofthecosts.
