Module 8

Portfolio Assignment (350 points) More than ever before, diversity has become of paramount concern to the modern workplace, and human resource professionals continue to seek and to create mechanisms to encourage a diverse workforce. Indeed, human resource managers have made significant attempts to both diverse the workforce and create recruitment campaigns that attract a greater diversity of candidates. In a 6 to 10 page paper, reflect upon what strategies human resource professionals in the public sector could undertake to greater diversify the workforce. In particular, you may wish to focus on the following questions:

What strategies are currently being used? What strategies are not working, or that need significant reforms? What ways, if any, could human resource professionals reach their target audience in

unconventional ways? What steps, if any, could human resource professionals enact to not only recruit diverse workers,

but to retain them in the workforce?

You may, and indeed are encouraged to, support your arguments by strategies that you have either read about in the news or have seen enacted in your workplace. Use this as an opportunity to brainstorm about ways that human resource offices can forge a more diversified workforce. For project details, see the Portfolio Project Description, which can be accessed from the Week 8 Assignments page.
