24 HOUR CHRISTMAS VIGIL Christmas 24 Hour Prayer Vigil: Plan now to spend an hour in prayer at our Christmas prayer vigil. Our first prayer vigil was at Easter and was a great success and those who participated were truly blessed by what turned out to be a very short hour in prayer. The vigil will start 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 10th and will conclude 7:00 p.m. Satur-day, December 11th. Please contact Lindsey Longstreth for sign up.
Please mark you calendars and spread the word to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to join us on Sunday, De-cember 19th for our annual Christmas Sunday School Program. The sanctuary will be like the heavens. . . .filled with angels an-nouncing the Savior's birth. . . If they could just figure out where the baby is being born! Your children will be busy in December practicing and preparing to share this delightful story with you. Please support your children’s regular attendance.

The Quest for Christmas Peace
The birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was a miraculous moment in time that initiated God’s greatest interven-tion into history that has ever occurred. God has a tender heart and longs for us to belong to him and to be satisfied by his beauty, truth, and wisdom. This was his reason for sending his son so that we may have faith in him. Jesus Christ is the perfect servant and longs for us to follow in his ways. As we seek to follow in the ways of Christ one of those areas where we need to focus is on living a life of peace. The prophet declares to us that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and that his peace will forever be increasing and spreading throughout time.
When we know that Jesus is the prince of something then in turn we also understand that that characteristic of Christ should be made complete in us. Christians are called to be many things and as we know there is a time for everything, but even when we may be called to righteous anger or an appropriate and godly jealousy that does not mean that we lose our peace in the process. Peace is primary. When we have faith in God’s sovereignty over us, or in other words when we trust Jesus fully with our life we can stop worrying about tomorrow. We actually come to the place where we can say with full confidence and honesty: “Lord whether I live or die, am rich or poor, and regardless what afflic-tions or blessings I face I trust that it is all in your plan and that my soul is safe in your hands.” It is when we can come to this state of mind and understanding of the gospel that true peace is accessible to us.
Jesus wants nothing more than for us to be obedient to him so that he can grow and shape us, giving us both his disci-pline and his blessing. This Christmas remember who your Prince of Peace is and that he desperately wants you to live fully in that peace. Lay down your burdens and allow Christ to carry them for you. Use his strength and energy to work through you as you do the tasks that he has called you to, and at the end of the day learn to rest in his arms know-ing that what has been done is enough and that God gives rest to those he loves. Psalm 127:2 says: “In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat – for he grants sleep to those he loves.” The Bible is clear that hard work is expected but when the work is over that is where we trust in our Lord, that is where peace replaces a racing mind and a sleepless night. So, take time for the small things, be attentive to the Scriptures and live boldly in the name of Jesus Christ the author of life and the Prince of Peace.
In His Peace,
Pastor Justin
LORD, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.
Isaiah 26:12

THANK YOU TO THE CONGREGATION OF MPC FOR MAKING O.C.C.
AND OUR
RELAY CENTER A WONDERFUL SUCCESS THIS YEAR!
At press time, our congregation has packed 219 shoeboxes! Please continue to pray for all Operation Christmas Child volun-teers and, most importantly, for the children who will receive a shoebox this Christmas. May they come to know the love of our Savior because of our simple gifts!
Michelle Unruh and Jamie Wilson would like to publicly thank the following businesses who generously donated shoeboxes, filler items, gift cards or made cash donations (for shipping). Our ministry was especially blessed by:
Costco (North Fayette) Sam’s Club (North Fayette)
Dollar General Corp. (McDonald and Imperial) Sharp Collections, Inc. (Sharpsville, PA)
Giant Eagle (McDonald) Shop ’N Save (Imperial)
The Home Depot (Bridgeville and North Fayette) Staples (Robinson)
Lowe’s (Scott Twp.) Steliotes Dental Spa (McMurray, PA)
Northwest Savings Bank (McDonald) Wal-mart (North Fayette and Scott Twp.)
Ott Dental Supply Co. (Pittsburgh, PA)
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD RELAY CENTER During the week of November 15-21 Trinity Center served as a drop off point for the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. There have been a great number of churches and individuals drop off shoeboxes at our location and with only half of the week completed we have over 30 cartons boxed up and ready to be sent on to the next collection point. Thank you to Michelle Unruh, Jamie Wilson and all of the volunteers who helped staff the collection center.

New Handicap Accessible Sidewalks The Session and the Trustees of our church have worked together to bring a sidewalk improvement project to reality this fall. The project will bring great improvements to the accessibility of the Calvary Center. There are three sepa-rate sites along Station Street that have been removed and are being replaced with new concrete. The site pictured above features a lowered curb that will provide easier accessibility with a code approved 8 inch step instead of the high curb that previously was in place. The first level of stairs were also replaced as they were badly cracked and in need of repair. The second site is a new street access point to our sanctuary level, handicap accessible entryway. This improvement will bring concrete out to the street with a wheelchair accessible ramp and a permanent no parking area for drop offs. The third section that has been addressed is the upper corner of the sidewalk where there will now also be a wheelchair accessible entry to our sidewalk. Thank you to Tom Garrett Sr., Ed Gilbert and all of the Trustees for your excellent work on this project.
Trustee Scrap Collections Continue The congregation extends a grand thank you to our Trustees who have been collecting scrap metal and donating all of the income to defray the principal on our roof mortgage. Since June they have contributed $3,470.00. Our mortgage is now down to about $16,000.00 Thanks to investment income from our church trust fund, your faithful giving, Trustee fund raising efforts, and additional special gifts what we owe on the loan has been decreased by about $12,000.00 since this January. With God’s continued grace the mortgage will be completely paid off within two years and perhaps sooner.
If you have a source of scrap metal that is available for donation please notify our Trustees. Also, the value of alumi-num is high right now so there is real incentive to recycle your aluminum cans through the church. A 24 pack of cans brings in over $0.60 cents so it really adds up. Ask about where to drop off your cans as you collect them. Thank you all for your wonderful work and support of our mission and ministry here.
Holiday Celebration McDonald Style Saturday, December 11, 2010
From 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. the local merchants will be keeping stores open later for holiday shopping and festivities through out town. For example the Boy Scouts will be selling luminary kits and giving away hot chocolate and home made donuts outside of Hooda Rain. Frosty and Santa will be around town and the Trail Station will be doing their Children’s Christmas party. So why not come into town and browse our shops and keep our business local. Buy a luminary, stop in Hooda Rain, stop in Lincoln Avenue Arts and Body Systems. Plus the many other businesses located in our neighborhood. There will prizes draw-ings and lots of surprises. It is the hope of all the local merchants that at sunset we all have our luminaries
outside and lit. If you have any questions, please contact Hoodarain at 724/492-1119 or contact them on Facebook or email to [email protected]

To our Friends,
It’s that time of year again! We are requesting your help to staff the Salvation Army Kettles at Giant Eagle-McDonald. Last year we raised $5,482.57 (even in a tough econ-omy). This money goes directly back into our community to assist many struggling families with food, coats, heating fuel, electric bills, etc.
Please call Kathy at 724/926-2830 to schedule a day (or days) for your group. Thank you for all your help. This is the true spirit of Christmas! People are eager to donate and are very generous if we can just keep the kettles up and running. Thanks, Kathy

Thank you for your great interest in and positive response to our new homeless ministry. About 30 people at-tended our training and our Deacons have a good understanding of what will need to be done to make this pro-ject a great success. Soon we will be collecting volunteers to serve as van drivers, overnight hosts and meal hosts. In the meantime, we are in need of 16 sets of twin sheets to use while our guests are here. If you have sheets, that are in good condition, we would be happy to accept them. New sheets may also be purchased and donated to this project.
Our week is Sunday, December 19th following worship through Sunday, December 26, 2010 before worship.
