Rossford United Methodist Church Rossford United Methodist Church May 2019 May 2019 Our Mission: "To Know Christ And to Make Christ Known" FROM PASTOR DWAYNE Greetings Church, In the book of Philippians Paul talks about having the same attitude as Christ (Phil. 2:5), not only looking out for you own interests but also the interests of others. Over these last few weeks, you all have lived into this passage so amazingly and beautifully to me and my family. I will never be able to thank you enough for the ways you took care of me, my family and our church while I was in the hospital. The love, prayers, time, food, cards, visits, and calls have been overwhelming. Too many churches see Easter as simply a one day event, the resurrection. It is partly that. But Easter is also a way of life, bringing new life and hope to a world that needs it. And sometimes the living need a resurrection too; being raised out of their struggles, hurts, sorrows, fears, frustrations, worries, anxieties, and hopelessness. You all lived the Easter story and I am so thankful! Words will never fully convey how I feel or how much you all mean to me and my family. I thank you and my family thanks you for taking care of us when we needed it. Thank you for showing us a living and active faith. Thank you for caring for and loving us! Thank you! It is truly an honor to be in ministry with you and I so look forward to all the ways God will use us to bring love and grace and hope to our community and our world. Keep up the amazing work, Church! If you are wondering about where you fit in and how God is calling you to love and serve our church and community, I encourage you to pray. Ask God where He is calling you. Ask God to show you the folks you can reach with his love and

WORSHIP NEWS

Our Worship committee did an amazing job on Maundy Thursday, Sonrise service Easter Breakfast and regular worship service. Our blossomed Easter cross was beautiful as always. A huge thankful to Rev.

Dr. Scot Ocke for stepping up to bat and your heartfelt sermons. You are such a blessing to us all. Thank you to everyone that helped in anyway to honor the Easter season. Our church is so blessed. We look

forward to new events and our Pastor’s returning good health. Our next Worship meeting date is May 2 at 6 pm.

God is good all the time, all the time God is good.

DOCK

The youth group is all ready to run the drive-thru for the Chicken BBQ on the 5th.   We’ll meet and set up at 11:00 and get started as soon as the worship service is over. They do such a good job keeping the line moving.  They have fun and work hard.  Following the BBQ we’ll be getting

pizza, as usual.  Pick-up time will be 3:00 p.m.

We will meet for our regular meeting on May 12th.  It’ll be our last regular meeting of the year.  We’ll prepare for our May worship service and talk about summer activities.

We lead worship on May 19th.  Because of Memorial Day we always shift our service to the week before. Our summer break from regular D.O.C.K. meetings begins on the 19th.

We will continue to lead worship on the last Sunday of the month but we won’t have regular evening meetings.  We will plan summer activities and projects.  Stay tuned for information on

that in the June newsletter.

KINGDOM KIDS CHOIR

Because the youth lead worship on May 19th (the third Sunday of the month), we will not have Kingdom Kids’ rehearsal.  We will begin our summer break from KK rehearsals now.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE COMMITTEE

Happy Easter to all!!

It's nice to have the rain stop and give us some sunshine on this beautiful Easter Sunday! We were treated to a special sermon today from Rev. Dr. Scot Ocke, who graciously filled in for Pastor Dwayne today and Maundy Thursday. We wish Dwayne a speedy recovery!!

Our committee sent out Easter Cards to our shut in list. The list has dropped off in the past few weeks, however we don't want to leave anyone out. So please let us know if you know of anyone that would like to be placed on our bulletin and card mailing list.

Our next congregational outing is planned for Friday, June 21st for a Toledo Mud Hen's baseball game. Look for a sign up sheet coming in May for tickets. Tickets are $15 each. We will have a hot dog supper before the game in the church kitchen.

Thank you to all who have helped bring coffee hour snacks in the past few months. We certainlly appreciate it!
