INTRODUCTIONINTRODUCTION
Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into an environment that causes harm to human health, other living organisms & the environment.
Undesirable state of the natural environment being contaminated with harmful substances as a consequence of human activities.
2
TYPES OF POLLUTIONSTYPES OF POLLUTIONS
1. Air pollution
2. Water pollution
3. Soil contamination
4. Radio active contamination
3
SOURCES AND EFFECTS OF SOURCES AND EFFECTS OF POLLUTIONSPOLLUTIONS
SOURCES :
Motor vehicle . Chemical plants and refinery. Sometimes natural disaster
EFFECTS :
Adverse air quality can kill many organism including humans. Ozone depletion. Sulfur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen can cause acid rain.Water pollution causes about 14000 deaths/day due to contamination of drinking water.

PLASMA TECHNOLOGYPLASMA TECHNOLOGY
Plasma- The 4th state of matter :
• Plasma are electrically conducting gases.
• Operates at about atmospheric pressure.
Emerging applications of plasma technology.

EMERGING APPLICATION OF PLASMA EMERGING APPLICATION OF PLASMA TECHNOLOGYTECHNOLOGY
Environmental Protections :
• Destruction of waste.• Reduction of pollution from diesel trucks and buses.
Energy Savings :
• High efficiency, clean gasoline engines
Other application: • Plasma cutting.

ADVANTAGES OF PLASMA FURNACE ADVANTAGES OF PLASMA FURNACE
Virtually eliminates dioxin and other air pollutants• Eliminates hazardous ash• Recycles waste into clean hydrogen and other products. Versus land filling• Eliminates water, soil and air pollution• Eliminates methane emissions (potent greenhouse gas) Economically attractive

DIESEL VEHICLE EXHAUST DIESEL VEHICLE EXHAUST TREATMENT(1)TREATMENT(1)
EPA regulations for heavy diesel trucks and buses in 2010require large reductions in exhaust pollutants. Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) are major contributors to smog.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSION
Plasma furnace technology is beginning to be used commercially to destroy waste and produce hydrogen and other useful products. Use of plasma hydrogen technology to treat diesel exhaust shows promise for meeting strict 2010 EPA requirements. High efficiency gasoline engines using plasma technology could Significantly reduce CO2 greenhouse gases and dependence on Foreign oil.
