The scenic 5K run & walk is a fundraiser for the Soundview Family YMCA and the Branford Rotary Foundation. The Branford Rotary & YMCA 5K is held Thanksgiving morning at Walsh Intermediate School in Branford. This year marks the 12 th annual event. In previous years, the event has raised nearly $200,000. Last year race had over 1,000 runners & walkers! We expect to draw a much larger crowd this year, increasing the number of participants and spectators alike. The event’s focus on family & fitness is a great start to Thanksgiving morning! Soundview Family YMCA The Soundview Family YMCA services the towns of Branford, North Branford, East Haven, Guilford and Madison. The family-oriented facility benefits the shoreline community with its programs fit for all ages, from child-care opportunities to senior activities. With activities for the whole family, the Soundview Family YMCA provides a safe, fun atmosphere for the shoreline community. The Y’s aquatics program alone provides swimming lessons, team sports, and family recreation for all members. Day camp activities for children and families are also offered, along with various other activities for the entire family. Branford Rotary Club & Foundation The mission of the Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation’s proceeds from this year’s race will provide food for those in need in our community.
