II. COURSE AIMS To teach students basics of tumor etiology, general and specific diagnostic and therapeutic procedures with emphasis on contemporary treatment for solid tumors. Students should recognize oncologic emergency conditions as well as side-effects of oncologic therapy. The holistic approach to care of oncologic patient is especially stressed out as well as the role of family physician in care of these patients. II. COURSE STRUCTURE Lectures (L): 8 hours Seminars (S): 16 hours Practicals (P): 26 hours Totals: 50 hours

Important notifications! In these special pandemic circumstances, classes will be held online. Instead of “classic” practicals which should be held at the clinic, every day, starting at 8am, one of the teachers will present and discuss 3 cases of cancer patients on-line. Seminars should be prepared and presented by students, and the teacher will moderate the presentation. Students will be informed in advance of the topic they need to prepare for the seminar. Students are assigned alphabetically for particular topics. Four (4) students should prepare their presentations for each day of seminar class. Classes will be held according to a predefined date and time. Online classes will be delivered through the Microsoft Office 365 Teams app, and learning materials (lecture presentations and patient case presentations) will be available on the same platform as well as through Merlin platform. The exam will be conducted through the Merlin platform.

V. Course Location: Lectures, Seminars, Practicals will be held on-line.

VI. EXAMINATION The exam consists of a written test (50 questions) and an oral exam. A minimum of 60% correct answers is required to pass the written test.

In oral exam students will be asked about the basics of different treatment modalities used in oncology, as well as etiology, epidemiology, clinical picture, diagnostics, therapy and prognosis of solid tumors. Students need to now oncologic emergency conditions as well as typical side effects of specific oncologic therapy. The attendance is mandatory to all lectures, seminars and practicals. Students may be absent up to 10% of all teaching modalities.
