GAME 5 - QUICK HITTERS• Riverhounds SC (2-0-2) hits the road for the second time this

season, riding a four-game unbeaten streak into Nippert Stadium to face FC Cincinnati (2-1-1) this Saturday. The match pits two teams in the top-eight against each other, as the Hounds sit fifth to Cincinnati’s seventh in the East.

• Since entering the league in 2016, Cincinnati has been quite the thorn in the Hounds’ side. In five matches to date, Pittsburgh has yet to capture three points, holding a 0-3-2 record with only one goal scored. That said, the tilts have been competitive with each being decided by a goal or less.

• With a new year comes new hope as well, as the Hounds are in the midst of their best start in the modern era of the USL (since 2011). No squad has ever started the season unbeaten in back-to-back matches, let alone four, and it already has reached eight points in three less matches compared to last season.

• Saturday presents perhaps the toughest test to date for Pittsburgh so far this year, as Cincinnati is the first opponent the Hounds have faced with a winning record – only Nashville (2-2-1) has a record at currently .500 or better.

• The Hounds are the lone team in the entire USL yet to concede a goal this season, and their plus-5 goal differential is second to only New York Red Bulls II (+7) in the Eastern Conference. Additionally, the club’s four clean sheets are tied with Orange County SC out West for tops in the league.

• Going a long way toward shutting down Cincinnati this Saturday will be a suffocating defensive unit that has seen its keepers make as many saves (4) as shutouts (4) this season. Cincinnati may just be ripe for the picking as well, as the hosts are averaging less than a goal per game (0.75) and its three tallies are the lowest output of any team currently in playoff position in the East.

• As an added note on the Hounds’ four-game shutout streak to start the season, only Rochester in 2012 – coached by Jesse Myers – started longer without allowing a goal in the modern era, stretching its streak to six games in total.

• With season-opening starters Joe Greenspan and Romeo Parkes missing time recently, the Hounds depth has shined, as 19 players overall have made at least one appearance and only three individuals (second-year defender Tobi Adewole, veteran outside back Ray Lee and rookie midfielder Thomas Vancaeyezeele) have played in every minute of every game this season.
