Day 5: Monday, October 8, 2018 Madrid - AVE High Speed Train - Barcelona Sit back, relax and enjoy

the picturesque landscapes of Leon,

Castilla and Catalunya as you travel

via high-speed train*** to Spain’s

modern city of culture and

architecture, Barcelona. Get

acquainted with one of the liveliest

cities in all of Europe on a locally

guided tour. Discover Parc Güell, one

of the most impressive public parks in

the world and one of Antoni Gaudí’s

masterpieces, where he let loose his

imagination with amazing buildings,

sculptures and tile work. Next, explore

the most popular monument in Spain,

Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece La

Sagrada Familia, still under

construction after more than 100

years. Later, see the Columbus

Monument, Parc de Montjuic, and

several UNESCO World Heritage

sites linked to Gaudí including the

unconventional Casa Mila building

Day 6: Tuesday, October 9, 2018 Barcelona It’s your choice! Take one

of two locally guided walking tours.

the 14th-century basilica of Santa

Maria del Mar, created in pure Catalan

paced walking tour of Barcelona’s

historic Gothic Quarter, a beautifully

preserved neighborhood with

medieval squares set inside a labyrinth

of streets leading to the 13th-century

La Seu Cathedral. Or, meet the locals

while exploring La Boqueria,

Barcelona’s largest and oldest open-

air market, portions of which date

back to the Middle Ages; then head to

Las Ramblas Boulevard, the most

famous pedestrian street in Barcelona;

discover famous landmarks such as

Gran Teatre del Liceu, Plaza Real,

Palau de la Virreina, before visiting

one of Antoni Gaudí’s architectural

treasures – Güell Palace. Enjoy some

free time this afternoon or take an

optional excursion to Montserrat, a

spectacular mountaintop monastery.

Experience It! La Sagrada Familia

Explore the most popular monument in Spain: La Sagrada Familia. Located in

the beautiful city of Barcelona, this giant basilica is one of the most awe-

inspiring structures in the world, and is truly a masterpiece of architecture and

design. Legendary Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí began work on the Roman

Catholic church in 1882, and the building is so immense, immaculate and unique

that it is still under construction today! (It is expected to be finished in 2026, the

100-year anniversary of Gaudí’s death.) This breathtaking work of art, which

contains eight spires (18 when finished, all reaching hundreds of feet into the

air), is a sight to behold from any angle—but that’s just from the outside. As you

walk through La Sagrada Familia’s impossibly towering halls, with stained-glass

windows rising up into the sky, you will know you are experiencing one of the

world’s greatest treasures.

***The AVE high-speed train will provide seat assignments upon departure. Seat selection is not possible ahead of time.

This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected.

**The walking tour of Toledo is considered to be more strenuous in nature due to the uneven walkways, number of steps and some uphill walks that are required in order to see the historic sights.

Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. Advance seating will be subject to the airline's terms and conditions.

Economy air rate and schedule are applicable for groups of 10 or more traveling on the same flights and dates.

A leisurely drive through picturesque villages brings you to majestic Montserrat Mountain, soaring 4,320 feet above

sea level. A local guide will lead you on a tour exploring the area's most important sights. While here, stroll the

grounds of the 8th-century monastery and see its famous Romanesque sculpture of the "Black Virgin," patron saint of

Catalonia. This is also the site of many pilgrimages and where Christopher Columbus brought missionaries to pay

Madrid

Madrid by Night with "Tapas Dinner" $95 USD

Madrid is a city that never sleeps and a trip to Spain would not be complete without experiencing a tapas dinner at a

popular local restaurant, located in the heart of Madrid. Enjoy old world ambience and traditional Castilian “tapas”

including home-made sausage, fried squid and grilled asparagus. For the main course, savor the regional specialty of

cochinillo (roast suckling pig), oven roasted lamb or grilled salmon, accompanied with wine. Later, view Madrid’s

major sights and avenues illuminated at night. Take a stroll through Plaza Mayor and nearby San Miguel Market.

Next, travel by coach viewing Plaza d’Espana, known for its statue dedicated to Cervantes, author of Don Quijote de
