Whilst I carried out my Market Research I discovered what people like to watch and what people didn’t enjoy watching.

Within this research I discovered that the top three films on box office were crime or drama’s. These films are:

The Town:GENRE: ROMANCE, CRIME, ACTION & DRAMARATED- 8/10

The Social Network:GENRE: DRAMARATED- 8.5/10

Buried:GENRE: SUSPENSE (DRAMA)RATED- 7.9/10

Also as part of my market research, I have completed six textual analysis’ in order to be able to understand my chosen genre better. This allowed me to develop my understanding in terms of the codes and conventions of crime/drama films, and the way I could use these within my own 2 minute film.

This is a copy of one of my textual analyses, including a timeline of events.

During my target audience research, I also found out that;

•80% of people who answered my questionnaire, said that they like watching Crime/Drama. So this confirms my choice of genre.

•78% of people also answered said that they were single, so they have more time to go to the cinema.

•The other 20% of people who answered, didn’t pick Crime/Drama instead picked Comedy.

•This is some comments we received: -I love Crime/Drama films, I think they are scary yet exciting.-Crime/Drama films are great to watch with your partner.-I am not a fan of Crime/Drama to be honest, I like comedy better.

•Because of my results I have decided to definitely choose Crime/Drama as my Genre.

My film consists of 4 characters, these characters include:

Chantelle Wilkinson (girlfriend)

Phoebe Wilkinson (sister of Chantelle)

Danny Dawson (Long term boyfriend of Chantelle)

Sergeant Miller (Detective)

The synopsis of my 2 minute film is:

Two sisters who are very different from each other. Chantelle hasn’t got any confidence, but Phoebe has and is very pretty.

Although Chantelle has a long term boyfriend, Phoebe is not happy about this.

Phoebe and Chantelle do not get on with each other. Phoebe is jealous and has an affair with Chantelle’s

boyfriend. Chantelle finds out about the affair. Chantelle kicks both of them out of her parents house. Danny tries to console Chantelle, whilst Phoebe leaves. Chantelle stabs Danny. The death is investigated by Sergeant Miller.

This is a preview of the start of my script.

Even though it is not my final draft, it involves dialogue and stage directions. Within the script it tells the characters where to move which will also help with the shot list as they will work together. The script also indicates when there will be a flashback.

This is a preview of the details within my script.
