A big thank you goes to Mrs G Draper and her team of workers, who planned and ran the day. Also to Mr Small who almost singlehandedly set up the pool area, a big thank you. All the parents who volunteered their time to be timekeepers and supporters, helped make the day a very enjoyable and successful one. I also want to do a shout out to Lee from the swim club for her support and assistance. A hand picked group of swimmers are representing Piopio College at the Tau- marunui Championships today: Kia Kaha to them! This week we had a special assembly to farewell our long serving member of staff, and well loved senior dean, Mrs Sue Draper who is retiring after 28 years of loyal service to Piopio College. The senior students coordinated a special slide show of Sue and presented her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a heartfelt presentation and a final haka . On Friday evening the staff will farewell Sue at a social function in a suitable manner. However I want to acknowledge all the work Sue has done in the Technology Department and as Senior Dean. Sue has been absolutely dedicated to tracking students and championing their success on an individu- al basis. Over the years Sue has made a huge difference to students who she has built strong relationships with and have mentored through school into their vocational pathways. I have heard many ex students singing Sue`s praises for rescuing them and helping them get through NCEA, and in some instances despite their challenges. This has been an outstanding feature of Sue`s time at Piopio College. The Board of Trustees, leadership team and staff wish you all of the best and a well deserved retirement! I am sure we will see your continued support of our students and College for years. 6 March -KC Athletics (TA) -Y7/Y8 Q & A evening (5.00-6.00pm) 8 March -Waitomo Interschool Swimming (TK) 11 March -PhotoLife Studios Class & Individual photos -Defence Force visit (Y11-Y13) 13-15 March -Y7 Camp (Te Kauri Lodge, Kawhia) 15 March -BoT Student Representative Bi-Election 18 March Y13 Raglan surf trip 20 March -Piopio College Athletics Day (note new date) 27-29 March Y10 Camp (Tauranga)
