BOOK YOUR CALENDARS! IT’S PROMO TIMENew this season, every Saturday home game will be known as “Timberjacks Saturdays” as the Mis-soula Osprey honor Missoula’s professional baseball past by wearing Missoula Timberjacks jerseys for every Saturday home game throughout the season. The Missoula Timberjacks were Missoula’s first professional baseball team and played at the old Campbell Field from 1956 to 1960. They were affiliated with the Washington Senators and Cincinnati Reds during their run. Former Major League pitcher Jim Kaat, Major League manager Jack McKeon, and country music star Charley Pride were some of the notable alumni to play for the Missoula team.

“We plan to honor our professional baseball roots in Missoula by wearing the Timberjacks uniforms each Saturday home game,” explained Osprey Executive Vice President Matt Ellis. “In addition, we plan on doing promotions geared towards that decade of the late 50’s so fans have a fun and unique experience at the Osprey game. We think so highly of this promotion that we are also con-sidering continuing this as a tradition in future years.”

The Osprey have dusted off the original Timberjacks primary logo, cap logo, and uniform design. A special line of souvenir items featuring these logos will be available at the games and the MSO Hub retail store beginning in early June.

“Minor League Baseball Licensing helped us uncover the original primary logo as part of their Hometown Collection Minor League promotion,” explained Kim Klages Johns, Osprey Merchan-dise Manager. “Their work combined with our research has brought the Timberjacks brand back to life after all of these years. The Timberjacks logos are great and we are excited to offer them to our fans. Early feedback from vendors and baseball people are very positive with everyone excited to purchase.”

In addition to the Indepedence Day Fireworks Spectacular on July 3rd, the Osprey will host two additional Fireworks Shows. The other two will occur on Friday, August 3rd and Friday, August 31st .

“Fireworks are still our number one promotion by far,” commented Ellis. “Fans of all ages love them. Our low level shows are considered some of the best in the area.”

Other great promotions on the schedule include:

On the Saturday, July 7 “Timberjacks Saturday” game vs. the Great Falls Voyagers, fans will get a Timberjacks Player Poster featuring this year’s Osprey in Timberjacks jerseys.

The first 750 fans who attend the game on Friday, July 20 vs. the Ogden Raptors will get an Osprey reusable grocery bag. But that is not all that night. It will also be Osprey Photo Night. The gates will open at 6 p.m. and Mike Williams Photography will take each fans photo with their favorite player or Ollie Osprey up to 6:45 p.m. Mike will develop the photos and have them available for pick up FREE of charge at the game! Check out www.missoulaosprey.com for more promotions.

OSPREY BASEBALL 2018 GAME PROGRAM11

LAST TIME OUT: HOW THE OSPREY FARED Osprey Walk-Off for Second Straight Day to Split Double-Header Two runs in the seventh of game two give Osprey control of the Pioneer League North Division MISSOULA, MONT – The Missoula Osprey (11-7) and Billings Mustangs (5-13) split the dou-ble-header Monday after both teams earned walk-off wins at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. Acting as the home team in game one due to a rainout in Billings earlier this year, the Mustangs won 8-7 before the Osprey walked off with a 6-5 win in the nightcap. It marks the second con-secutive day with a game winner for the Osprey.

Missoula scored four runs in the top of the fourth in game one to strike first as Zack Shannon led off with a solo home run, his third of the season. With the bases loaded, Luis Cossio drove a two-RBI double to push the Osprey ahead 3-0 before buddy Kennedy plated another with a sacrifice fly.

The Osprey tagged on three more runs in the sixth when Zac Almond doubled to score Je-sus Marriaga. With two men on, Shannon roped a two-RBI triple to give the Osprey a 7-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning. However, the Mustangs offense finally caught fire, scor-ing six runs to pull within one. Adding a run in the seventh to tie the game, Jake Turnbull hit a pinch-hit RBI single up the middle in the eighth to give Billings an 8-7 walk-off win.

Dauri MOreta (1-0) earned the win while Tyler Jandron was pegged with the loss (0-1).

Game two started with a Missoula run in the bottom of the second when a run scored on an error from Billings to give the Osprey a 1-0 lead. Billings quickly took the lead in the top of the third as Pabel Manzanero singled to score Dylan Harris. Drew Mount doubled home two and gave the Mustangs a 3-1 lead. Missoula tagged on a run in the bottom of the inning to pull within one.

With a man on third in the fifth, Shannon grounded out to tie the game at three. The Osprey took a 4-3 lead in the sixth on an error, but the Mustangs scored two runs in the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.

However, the Osprey offense received a jump-start yet again from Shannon. He drove a dou-ble to begin the bottom of the seventh, and was followed by a run-scoring double from Cesar Garcia. Jesus Munoz dropped a sacrifice bunt to move Garcia to third while David Sanchez and Cossio were both walked. With the bases loaded and one out, Marriaga hit a ball back up the middle to the second baseman that scored the winning run to propel the Osprey to a 6-5 game two win.

Omar Herman (1-0) earned the win while Andy Cox is tagged with the loss for Billings.

Each game is broadcast live on ESPN 102.9 FM, the Tunein App, and the MiLB First Pitch App.

MISSOULA’S OTHER PRO TEAM - THE TIMBERJACKS Before the Missoula Osprey entered the Pioneer League in 1999, the city in Western Montana had been part of the history of the League, with the five-year run of the Mis-soula Timberjacks. The Timberjacks played in the Pioneer League from 1956-60, finishing second in the league in 1958. The Jacks played as an independent in 1956 before beginning a three-season run as an affiliate of the Washington Senators. The Cincinnati Reds were the parent club of the Timberjacks in their final season, 1960. The Tim-berjacks’ best season was in 1958, when they finished second in the Pioneer League, thanks in part to the pitching of Jim Kaat, who would eventually break into the majors with the Senators. He would be the last of the Senators who moved with the team to Minnesota to retire, and also enjoyed a long career as a broadcaster.
