NORTH AMERICAN
PRECIS SYNDICATE
To attend college, most studentsmust pass a very rigorous test nding the money to pay for educa-tion. Finding that money is harderevery year.
With college costs rising morequickly than medical care, The Wall
Street Journal recently reported that88 percent of families are havingdifculty paying for college.
In the past, college tuition waspaid for with savings, supplemented
by government or bank loans. To-day, its usually savings, spendingfrom current income and borrow-ing.
Last year, 10 million familiestook out college loans loans thatare not discharged in bankruptcy, said Justin Draeger, National As-sociation of Student Financial Aid
Administrators.Because it costs so much to go
to college, the majority of studentsleave with more than $23,000 indebt. Starting salaries for most col-lege graduates are $17,000, says FoxNews.
Although fewer grants and loans will be given to students this year, there are still nancial resourcesavailable if you know where to lookfor them.
There are billions of highereducation dollars that annually gounused because people just do notknow about the money, where itis and how to get it, said Idalah D.
Womack, MSW, LCSW, author of1 True College Money Since 1978,
sixth edition (Innity Publishing). Womack was the rst person in
her family to go to college. She wasinspired to write the book becauseof her own experiences trying to getnancial aid, and the current sixthedition contains more than 30 yearsof her research combined with col-lege students experiences.
Womack offers a few of her tipsto get started:
nTake a pen, paper and quartersto a library. Be prepared to gather/copy a large amount of information.
nGo to the reference desk of yourlocal public, high school, college orcollege departmental libraries. Askfor books about scholarships, fel-
lowships and internships that payfor higher education.
nGrants originate from business, government, private and/or founda-tion sources. Successful and wealthgraduates often donate money in aneffort to give back and help otherstudents. Many of these grants can
be found in college catalogs.n While you are awaiting ap-
plications for nancial help, startlooking for a college.
n Contact the Continuing Edu-cation Department at colleges andrequest information about their ser-
vices, work-study grants and coop-erative education programs.

Bone BrothWhen I was a young man, I remember watching my mother boil soup bones, ox tail, pigs feet, or chicken and turkey
bones. I was just grossed out by this and the thought of eating food made in that way made me nauseated. So now, here it ismany years later, I am recommending bone broth for anyone with digestive disorders, especially IBS, Diarrhea, Colitis, CrohnsDisease, and severe Allergies. We have also seen great results with people who have emotional conditions like depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
The concept of using this for healing is very simple. It is a way to rest the gut or digestive tract, for 3-4 days so it canheal. Once it is healed the normal function can return. The mental emotional part of this is covered very well in a book byDr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, GAPS Gut and Psychological Syndrome. Dr. Campbell-McBride shows how the digestivetract makes many of the neurotransmitters used by the nervous system. So if the gut is not working correctly, those bodychemicals will be out of balance. Restoration of bowel function is essential for recovery of many normal body functions.
Westin A. Price studies many primitive cultures that were extremely healthy. They all cooked and chewed bones, ground upbones and shells to powder, and added the powder to meals to get minerals and the structural elements to build healthystrong bones.
Okay. So how does one make bone broth? Very simple. Gather some bones. Collect all your chicken or turkey bones. Putthem in the freezer until you get enough to fill your slow cooker. You can also get them from your butcher by buying soupbones or oxtails. It is best if you can get your bones from personal sources, like someone who raises their own animals. This
way there will be less toxins, antibiotics, steroids, growth hormones, etc. in those bones. Cooking will destroy most of thosetoxins, but starting with good clean stock is best.
When you have enough bones, fill your slow cooker with healthy water (no chlorine) and cook on low for 48-72 hours.Check and stir occasionally and add a little water if needed to keep the bones covered. After enoughtime, remove all the bones and discard them. Stir the broth. There will be a lot of gel floating on thetop. Do not discard that because that will be used by your body to build collagen or cartilage. Putthe broth in dated serving size containers and freeze. That way you have it available when needed. If you need it now, use it, but make more as soon as possible so you have some available.
It is best to eat nothing but the bone broth and lots of water for two to three days. W arm it (notin a microwave) and drink as much as you like throughout the treatment period. After the two to
four days, begin to add cooked veggies and fruit. You can drink the juices and water used to cookthe vegetables. Use no raw vegetables or fruit for at least one or two weeks. All raw fiber can bedamaging to an irritated lining of the digestive tract. As you progress you will feel better and then
you can slowly begin to add raw fruit and vegetables. Be sure to avoid all chemicals and additives.Notice if any foods create problems when you add them back.
