It is also a time to think of others who do not have as much to be thankful forand Jennifer Taylor our Public Relations Chair is working on putting together a public service projectfor us to bring goodness and light to others.

I am very excited about our upcoming meetings- and the one this month is a great time to bring yourboss. We need to show the value of NAIW to our employers to continue to get their support andletting them see our meetings are not just about us, that we learn things we can utilize in our officesis a great way to get that support! Watch out for fake North Carolina prize offersSome consumers have recently gotten mailings that claim theyve won a prize from theState of North Carolina Commissioners of Registration. To claim their prize, consumersare told to sign the form and return it along with a payment of $20.

The mailings look official and include a fake state seal, but the promised prizes dontexist, and there is no state agency called the Commissioners of Registration. If you

receive a similar mailing, do not reply to it or send any money. Its illegal to requireconsumers to pay any fee to win a prize, and money sent to scammers is usually difficultor impossible to recover. Responding to one type of scam also puts you at greater riskfor becoming the target of other scammers.Attorney General Roy Coopers Consumer Protection Division is currently investigatingthese mailings. If youve responded to a prize notice like this one, contact us forassistance at 1-877-5-NO-SCAM. For more information on how to protect yourselfincluding tips on prize scams, visit us at www.ncdoj.gov.
