Pulitzer prize photo by Smiley N. PoolThis caught my eye mostly because it had to do with the beautiful city of New Orleans. It portrays the impact of Hurricane Katrina upon downtown. The lighting and smoke makes it really depressing. The highways serve as leading lines, being broken only by flood waters. The trees and neighborhoods serve as patterns throughout the picture. The distant city serves as a symbol of perseverance?! Overall destruction in a prosperous city makes the picture work.

Pulitzer Prize photo by Damon WinterObama looks really wet in this picture.(not a proper cutline eh?) I’ve never seen a President drenched like this. I feel that this picture can be a symbol of dedication and diligence that Obama has because he is at a rally in such weather. From the positioning, Mr. Winter definitely used center of interest. It also uses angle, portraying the side of Obama’s face. This picture pulls out emotion for myself.
