Figure 1: Suggested layout of activating touch plates. Each plate activates the haptic controller for that device or system. For example, the driver’s side mirror could be activated by touching a sensor where you would normally find the controller. This would transfer control to the haptic joystick. The mirror could then be controlled by the haptic joystick control, and a menu would appear in the HUD 10 10 Menu would appear in the HDD, for our testing.
