PIA Western Alliance Welcomes Gretta Gerdau

Gretta Gerdau is the PIA Western Alliance’s new Personal Lines Agent.

A long time PIA supporter, Gretta did not know the classified ad she was responding to was from the PIA Western Alliance and that the association needed a personal lines agent. A couple of interviews later and Gretta is the PIA Western Alliance’s new Personal Lines Agent.

She is a perfect fit for the job and told Weekly Industry News she felt an instant rapport with the PIA team.

Gretta comes to PIA after a 14-year career as a personal lines field agent for Bancorp Insurance in La Pine, Oregon. The agency is a big PIA supporter and it was there she first encountered the PIA and where admiration of the association started.

“I like the PIA and love what it stands for. The PIA provides extensive training resources for agents. I received my CISR designation through the PIA 10-years ago, and am now working on my CIC,” she said.

Gretta loves that she can give back some of what she learned in the business and classes she took at PIA Oregon/Idaho conventions. She said the PIA Western Alliance provides access to markets for agencies and agents who need them for various reasons. “Some are already successful, others are struggling; we are here to support them any way we can. A big part of my role at the PIA is to help struggling agencies get back on their feet with market access. Sometimes we help them learn how to write business and grow their agency. Sometimes we are just a here to fill a niche.”

With five children, Gretta has little spare time, but enjoys listening to live music and volunteering for various community organizations. Originally from Oregon, Gretta appreciates the gray skies and outdoors of the beautiful Northwest.
