WELCOME TO THE 2017 SCHOOL YEAR! A very special welcome to all of our new students and their families. Welcome to Mr Moore - teaching 6M this year, Mr Jim Linigan - relieving for Mr Wade while he is on leave and welcome back to Mrs Plunkett and Mrs Whale—2W. We have had a very positive start to the year - our classes are settled and everyone is starting the new school year with
enthusiasm. If you have any questions or concerns over your child’s class, your first ‘point of call’ is the class teacher. A new class and a new teacher brings new routines and new expectations - information about the year ahead in your child’s classroom will be given out at our upcoming Parent Information Evenings. The dates/times of these evenings are featured in the newsletter calendar. SUPERVISION IN THE MORNING - Supervision in the playground starts at 8.25am in the morning and ends after bus duty in the afternoon. Please make the necessary before and after school care arrangements to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child. SWIMMING CARNIVAL The Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival is on Tuesday, 14th February at Maitland Pool. All primary students have received a permission note. The cost is $8 each to cover bus and pool entry. Students in Year 2 who turn 8 this year are also invited to attend if they are competent swimmers and can confidently swim 50 metres unaided in their strokes. There will be novelty events (within the pool grounds) for those students who are not participating in the competitive races. Everyone will be busy! Please note: as per DEC guidelines there will be no free swim time. Permission notes for any child in Year 2 turning 8 this year, who feels they are confident to swim 50m competitively can be picked up at the office or on the school website. Please note: this cannot be paid online as the cost is under $10. RESOURCE PACKS FOR 2017 will cost $65 per student ($40 for the third or more child). We ask that this is paid as soon as possible as the school has already outlaid expenses for these items. An invoice has been sent home to each family today. Please send payment in an envelope with your child’s name, class and “Resource Pack” written clearly on the front and place envelope in the silver tin at the school office. You may also pay online via the school website. Please enter “Resource Pack” under the payment description. YEAR 5 & 6 BATHURST EXCURSION Our senior excursion will take place from 14th March to 17th March. There are still limited places available. The full amount of $450 must be paid by Wednesday, 1st March. Please return medical and behaviour forms by 3rd March as venues must be advised of dietary and medical requirements. A camp information night will be held on Wednesday, 15th February (as part of the class information session). YEAR 4 SYDNEY TWO NIGHT EXCURSION will be held from Monday, 27th March to Wednesday, 29th March. There are places still available. The full amount of $275 is due by Friday, 10th March. SPORT IN SCHOOLS program will be held at school during Terms 1 and 2. A permission note has been sent home with all students this week.
Have a great week, Deb and Staff.
